Library News

Potrick the Caterpillar has arrived!

Something very exciting has been happening at St Augustine’s!

This book week all children came together to create a real life picture story book - and it’s now ready to take its place on your bookshelf! We’ve worked with a small independent printer who has used 100% recycled paper (yay for the environment!) to bring this very special book to life for you and your family.

Every child will be credited as the author and illustrator of the book as each and every child has made a contribution.

We’d love to get your book to you in time for Christmas so please place your orders before 31st October. As well as being a beautiful keepsake, they’re also the perfect Christmas gift for other children, grandparents, friends, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The books are A4, full colour, paperback and we are selling them for $25.

Any profits made will go directly to sustaining our beautiful library and promoting literacy within the school.

Some more library updates...

  • Book covering:

We've had some lovely parent and grandparent volunteers come in to contact new library books and decodable readers. Many hands make light work and we are so grateful for their time and effort. Pop in on a Thursday or Friday if you'd like to help them or to take some books home to contact.

  •  Story time in the Library:

Story time is becoming a regular part of each class' library time. This week our little learners sunggled up with blankets and pillows while enjoying a magical story together.

  • Borrowing:

Borrowing (in full force!) is happening weekly and every class is loving being able to take books home. Please remind your child to pack their library bag and library card on a Thursday and Friday so that they can bring books home. Our focus is on engagement and joy at this early stage. Please don't worry yourselves with lost books / bags / cards - these are wonderful problems to have!

  • Donations:

Thank you to everyone who has donated books and soft toys to the library. The donation basket is in front of the library and we are accepting the following donations:

    - soft toys, dolls and figurines in good condition

    - books in good condition - no early learning or preschool books please

    - cushions and blankets in good condition

  • Can you help?

We'd love some help to keep the new additions to our library looking fresh and our books covered and clean. Please let the office know if you are willing to go on a rotating roster to wash the blankets and cushions that the children are using, or to shelve and return books.
