To celebrate the final week of Term 3 and Footy Finals Week, students can dress in their favourite AFL team colours on the final day of Term 3 (Friday 19th September)
In Week 7, the 5/6 students travelled to Melbourne Zoo to deepen their understanding of the Inquiry topic 'Living things in the enviornment'.
It was a great opporutnity for the students to explore the different habitats and enviornments as well as learn how animals have learnt to survive.
The students took part in an educational program where they learnt how animals have adapted their bodies to survive. From the body structure, such as fins and skin, to colour of skin to camouflage. They also explored how man made disaster make it hard for animals to survive. The zoo educators gave a great example of how sea life do not have thumbs, therefore it is hard for them to survive if they are tangled in rope or fish nets.
After our visit, the students explored the rest of the zoo, choosing an evironment that they would like to explore further for their inquiry diorama.
SAKGP - 1/2M and 1/2RS in the kitchen
We have had a few big weeks in the kitchen. Last week we were preparing our delicious chocolate chip biscuits for our wonderful dads. Every biscuit ended up with three chocolate chips - there was such great restraint show by the 1/2's and not a single chocolate chip eaten! The students also prepared some beautiful hand made cards, we hope that all our school dads feel loved and appreciated.
We also collected rubbish around the school senior yard and were astonished that although no one had been outside for eating time, we could collect a large amount of rubbish, none that can be sent to the compost or worm bin. This ignited great discussions about how we can select our choices of foods in our own lunch boxes.
This week we continued on with lunch box options that do not require plastic or foil wrappers. Spinach and feta parcels were beatifully prepared by the students and though many declared that they do not eat spinach there were only crumbs lefts after our cooking classes. The students also prepared posters demonstrating their concerns for the environment and how we may be able to support reducing our waste and looking after our ecosystems.
Ciao a tutti!
As we come to the end of Term 3, it’s been another exciting and productive term in Italian across Prep to Year 6. The students have been engaging enthusiastically with language learning, cultural activities, and lots of opportunities to practise their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Grade 3/4 updates:
It’s been a busy and exciting time in Grade 3/4! We have been reading Charlotte’s Web together and enjoyed watching the movie version to compare it with the novel. In Religion, we created kindness letterboxes where students can leave kind notes and drawings for each other to be opened and shared at the end of term.
In Writing, students had a wonderful time inventing their own made-up sea creatures. They created Google Slide presentations that included classification, physical traits, habitat, diet, locomotion, life cycle, and fun facts. This creative task was great preparation for their upcoming homework project presentations on real marine life, which ties into our Inquiry unit and the excursion to the Melbourne Aquarium.
Have a great holidays,
3/4 Team
Grade Prep
It’s been such a busy and exciting term in our classroom! We’ve celebrated many wonderful events and continued to grow together as learners. In English, students have been exploring information reports – learning how to organise facts and present their ideas clearly. In Maths, they’ve been developing their skills in sharing objects between two and three groups, building a strong understanding of early division and equal sharing.
We’re so proud of the enthusiasm and effort the students have shown in all areas of their learning. It’s been a joy to see their confidence grow, and we’re looking forward to another great term ahead!
It's about TIME in Yr 1/2
In Year 1/2, we have been learning all about time! Students have explored the days of the week, months of the year, how many days are in each month and year, and the features of an analogue clock. They have been practising telling the time to o’clock and half past, as well as drawing the clock hands to match given times. To help remember which hand is which, we came up with a fun trick: the word minute is longer than the word hour, so the longer hand is the minute hand and the shorter hand is the hour hand.
