Tiered Interventions for Student Success

Hi families,

I hope this message finds you well. This fortnight, I wanted to touch on our ongoing commitment to supporting every student's academic and personal growth through the use of tiered interventions.

At our wonderful school, we believe in providing a proactive and supportive environment where each student can thrive. Tiered interventions are a framework designed to ensure that every student's needs are met through a personalised approach to instruction and support. This approach is based on the understanding that students have diverse learning styles, strengths, and areas for growth.

So, what exactly are tiered interventions?

Tier 1: Universal Supports

Tier 1 interventions are provided to all students as part of our core instructional program. This tier focuses on high-quality, evidence-based instruction delivered by our skilled teachers in the general education classroom. It includes strategies such as differentiated instruction, ongoing progress monitoring, and positive behaviour supports to create a supportive learning environment for all students.

Tier 2: Targeted Interventions

For students who require additional support beyond what is provided in Tier 1, we offer Tier 2 interventions. These interventions are targeted to address specific academic or behavioural challenges that some students may face. Examples of Tier 2 interventions include small group instruction, additional practice sessions, and social-emotional learning programs tailored to individual student needs.

Tier 3: Intensive Supports

Tier 3 interventions are reserved for students who require more intensive, individualised support to succeed academically and socially. These interventions are highly personalised and may involve one-on-one instruction, specialised interventions, and collaboration with external support services such as occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, or specialists. Our goal is to ensure that every student receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

By implementing a tiered intervention approach, we can effectively identify and address the diverse needs of our students, promoting their success both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that collaboration between teachers, parents, and students is essential in this process, and we encourage open communication to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students' success.
