Exciting News!

An exciting announcement was shared with our community last week! On Friday, we were notified of the new Early Learning Centre being built in Teesdale, opening in 2026. Whilst we have plenty of time to dig deeper into the information as it becomes available, we are celebrating this news! The Early Learning Centre will be one of fifty built across Victoria. It will be government-owned and operated, but most excitingly – the Centre will be co-located with the school. The Centre will offer childcare as well as Three and Four-Year-Old kinder.

I imagine there are and will be many more questions. As more information is shared with us, we will also share with our community.

Student Safety

It has been wonderful to see so many of our students still enjoying the ride to and from school despite the colder weather we have experienced over the past couple of days. We have however, been notified of students riding their bikes in the middle of the road and not following road safety rules. These risky behaviours have been observed by parents as students leave the school of an afternoon.

The Sniffles!

As the winter weather dawns upon us, we have been reminding students to ensure they have school uniform items to keep them warm at school, particularly during break times. We have already experienced an increase in the dreaded winter sniffles and appreciate family support to ensure students are resting and recovering at home when feeling unwell.

2025 Enrolment

On Tuesday June 4, we will host our enrolment session for prospective families. If you have a neighbour, colleague or friend who is looking for information, please encourage them to attend. It is already that time when we are working to confirm 2025 enrolments.

Celebrating the Teesdale Team!

Last week, I joined Mr Le and the Senior School students for their PE lesson. Their encouragement for me to show off my handstand skills did not go unnoticed! My skills were applauded, and while I may not be selected as part of the gymnastics team for the Olympics in Paris, I do want to recognise the impressive way students celebrated each other's efforts throughout the session.

School Saving Bonus

You may have seen the recent announcement of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25. We are sharing more information about how families will be able to access and use this support.

This one-off support will include $400 for each eligible student to help families cover the costs of school uniforms and activities in 2025.

It will be available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a Victorian government school in 2025.

Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families. Instead, families will receive the bonus as credits on their school accounts that will help meet the costs of your children’s activities and uniforms.

Existing supports

The School Saving Bonus support will be in addition to existing and continuing means-tested supports for camps, sports, excursions and uniforms.

The application-based Affordable School Uniform program, through State Schools’ Relief, will continue to be available to families experiencing financial hardship or other forms of vulnerability and short-term crisis. This program allows schools to make multiple applications for support on parents' behalf throughout the year if needed.

There will be more information and guidance about the School Saving Bonus in Term 3, 2024, ahead of its implementation in 2025.

Shoe Boxes for Science

Ms Moloney is seeking any spare shoes boxes that you may have lying around the house. The senior students will be needing many shoes boxes for a science project nearing the end of this term. If you have any shoe boxes that you are happy to donate, please drop them off to the Science/Art room before or after school.
