Readers are Leaders

Hello from your library team!

How great is it to be back and using the library once again as nature intended! There are a few exciting things happening here at the moment including a whole bunch of new books in the collection. There is the new Morrigan Crow adventure, Hollowpox, which we have been waiting two years for. There is also the newest book in the Twilight series, Midnight Sun as told by Edward himself. For the trivia buff, there are the 2021 Guinness World Records and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not books to boggle your mind over. For the devourer of horror and just in time for Halloween, The Haunted by Danielle Vega and Harrow Lake by Kate Ellis will have you keeping the lights on. Don’t forget to reserve any items you would love to read on the online library catalogue which you can access through your Compass homepage.

Library News

The Australian Reading Hour will be held on 12th November this year so think about which book you would love to read on the day and then reserve your copy here at the library. We will have a reading circle during lunch on the day for those wanting to take part.

The Library Trivia Master is coming back with a vengeance as well and will be available to access from Monday 26th October. Come and test your knowledge and be in the running for the major prize at the end of the year.

Halloween is just around the corner and the library will be having its annual Jack O’Lantern Pumpkin Art in the library at lunch on the 30th October. Come on down to the library to sign up before the 29th October. Get into your ghoulish side and make that pumpkin a demon’s delight!

Lastly, the library now has the complete collection of curriculum English texts for 2021 for those wanting to get a head start to the 2021 year. Come on down to the library and borrow one of the fantastic choices on offer.

Premiers' Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge concluded over the term 3 holidays and I am extremely proud of the six students who not only completed the challenge, but also read more than triple the total required of them. These students are as follows:

  • Annie J
  • Mai K
  • Kestrel M
  • Rose P
  • Deborah P
  • Althea R

Congratulations to all six of you.

I would also like to congratulate the two year 12 students who have earned the Senior Students of the Year Award. They are:

  • Stefanie M - her constant smile, fantastic attitude, and great humour impressed the library team immensely. She has earned a Readings book voucher. Congrats!
  • Josh R - his interest in film photography and appreciation of the book 120 Suns impressed the librarian. He has earned a ‘how - to’ photography book.

Congratulations to both students.
