Congratulations

SAPSASA

Well done to Memphis and Cooper for being chosen to represent the school in the recent SAPSASA Football competition. We also congratulate Phoebe for her selection and competition in SAPSASA Netball and Amelia's selection and contribution to the SAPSASA District Soccer team.

Netball

On Friday, nine of our stage 4 girls braved the winds to participate in the SAPSASA Salisbury East netball carnival. During the day, the girls played extremely well, starting with a few wins before a tight loss (4-3) to another undefeated team. They bounced back to win their remaining matches. At the end of the day, they finished with a record of 6 wins and 1 loss. This culminated in Good Shepherd finishing equal first in their division!  Congratulations to all the girls involved. A special thank you to Mrs Smith (coach) and Kirstyn Schmidt (Team Manager).

Soccer

Last Tuesday, thirteen of our Stage 4 boys headed to West beach for a SACSA (South Australian Christian Schools Association) soccer carnival. We had a good blend of players, all willing to represent their schools and themselves with great sportsmanship.

After starting the day with two tough losses, the team showed great teamwork and confidence to follow up with a great win. Our final pool match of the day was a disappointing loss; however we snuck into the fourth-place playoff match and finished the day with a resounding 6-0 victory, displaying fantastic camaraderie and skills.  Thank you to Brett Copeland (linesman) and Vennessa Fieldhouse (Team Manager) for their support during the day.

Cricket

The 2020 season resumes in Term 4.  If you are interested in playing cricket, complete the following form and return it to the school.

Netball

U7 GS Stars

Our last game for the term and we came up against our Golden grove opponents who played a strong game.

It was a low scoring game with play going back and forth with plenty of intercepts from both teams. Well done to Mya on your first goal. Yay!

We've enjoyed watching each one of you grow in your skills and seeing the confidence grow in all of you.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and to the parents who get the girls to each game. We look forward to next season with you all.

Goodbye to Miane and good luck to Ivy who moves up into the next age group.

A big thankyou to Nikki who has put in a great lot of time and passion into helping these girls in their first year of netball. We couldn't have done it without you.

U9 GS Champs

Well done to the GS Champs for their positive attitude and effort all season. Many players are new to netball this year and it's been encouraging to watch their skills and passion develop. Thank you to those parents who have supported the team at games and training, and to Andrea Panozzo for doing a great job coaching.

Basketball

U8 GS Magic

The GS Magic finished Term 3 undefeated with a solid win on Monday afternoon.  As with all matches between the two Good Shepherd teams, it was played in good spirit as the school friends competed against each other on the court.  Jake had a standout game scoring 10 points, Jayden, Lachlan and Eden all scored baskets again, Layla applied some great defensive pressure, Oscar did well at the free throw line and Kaden and Shaurya had a chance to show their dribbling skills.

Well done Magic for a great team effort all term.

Scorers: Jake (10pts), Jayden (8pts), Lachlan (6pts) and Eden (2pts).

U8 GS Thunder

The air was thick with competitive spirit on Monday afternoon as the GS Thunder faced the GS Magic.  Never have spectators been so vocal nor so excited, and every player could feel gusts of well-meant yet decidedly intense support rippling from the sidelines.  The court buzzed and shoes were ablur as the ball changed hands with remarkable speed.  Opportunities were gained and lost in a truly thrilling fashion, and there was a stern exchange with the referee (not from the team manager, surely).  We wouldn’t go down without a fight – the Thunder grabbed and stole, leapt and flung their bodies to the polished floor with admirable tenacity.  The week’s MVP, Hadassah, doggedly put herself in the opposition’s path, earning praise from all sides afterwards.  Persist with the passing practice, Thunder.  It will pay off!

U10 GS Rockets

The boys from the Rockets team faced Prescott 3 in their last game of the season.  We are so proud of every player and how far you have come during this term in basketball.  You all played well last night and we were so excited for Matthew, who scored his first goal in last night's game.

We walked away with a win of 32-6

Well done boys!  See you all next term.

Scorers:  Divan (12pts);  Ashrith (6pts); Hudson (6pts);  Harry (2pts);  Matthew (2pts)  and Preston (2pts).

Year 5/6 Shooters

The GS Shooters started this week's game a little hesitant at first having recently played some tough games, followed with a bye. Their confidence grew when the team passed to each other more, resulting in goals being scored. It was a convincing win in the end thanks to a renewed teamwork effort. Well done Shooters with all players scoring during this match!
