Library News!

I think I begin every end of term newsletter like this but WOW this term has flown. This week is the children's last borrowing week for the term, could we please have all books returned to the library during the children's library lesson next week or before if they have finished their books.

Third term is going to be a lot of fun in the library. We have Book Fair returning on the 25th of July for one week, children will be able to purchase books from the Book Fair at school. We also have Book Week celebrations on the 24th of August. It will be great to get back to a normal book week with the children being able to come to school in their dressups. There will be more information on both of these events in future newsletters.                                              Thank you - Yolanda McVilly

St Carthage’s Lismore - Flood Fundraiser

Our contribution to St Carthage’s Lismore has finally arrived at their school. A coin challenge, organised by our Grade 6 students as part of their leadership program, raised $1100 for the families of St Carthage’s who were affected by the floods. This donation was sent as Coles Myer gift cards. A huge thank you to all our families who contributed to this.

We received a couple of letters of thanks from the school last week. The Deputy Principal said, “I want to sincerely thank you, your Grade 6 students and all involved in  helping our school at our time of need. Your thoughts, prayers and wonderful efforts to help us are so appreciated.”

Our Grade 6 students also made a fantastic poster, covered with well-wishes for the Lismore school community. The Grade 6 teacher sent this message: “Thank you for the beautiful card and messages of support and encouragement. The kids have absolutely loved it and have proudly taken it around to all 24 classes in the school to show it off. Thanks again for thinking of us and supporting St Carthage’s during this crazy time”.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed. Our Grade 6s are feeling a huge sense of  pride and that “feel good” sensation that giving brings. It has been a great lesson in compassion, resilience and social justice… just some of the values we hold high at our wonderful school.

Lynne, Kate and the Grade 6 Team.
