Principal's News

Dear Parents / Carers,

You may recall that last week I explained that we would not be in a position to distribute reports nor meet with parents at the end of this term due to the wave of illness sweeping through our staff. Foundation classes are an exception though. These 3 teachers have also been ill at times during the past fortnight, however the reporting requirements are a little different and so Foundation parents have been making appointments to meet with their child/ren’ teacher via PAM.

In any case, something I didn’t mention last week was how amazing YOUR children have been through this period.

Mrs Daffy and I were discussing this last week as we watched the children play around us whilst doing Yard Duty.

The children have had any number of emergency teachers and replacement Teacher Aides working with them, and they have not missed a beat.

The children keep turning up, meeting their teacher for the day, helping THEM to settle into our school routines and then getting stuck into their work.

I remember writing in this newsletter right back at the beginning of the pandemic that our children would be watching us during this crisis. That they would be calm when we were calm, that they could be brave and resilient if the adults around them set this example, and that they can be kind to each other when this is modelled for them.

Keep it up everyone, the kids are still watching and learning!

END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS The students will finish Term 2 NEXT Thursday, June 23rd. Staff will be completing the second day of compulsory training for our ReLate program on Friday the 24th.

This will coincide with our celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

Therefore the whole school will be going to 10:00am. Mass at St Mary’s Church on Thursday the 23rd. Parents and friends may attend it if they'd like. This is traditionally the “Poor Man’s Mass” where we are asked to donate non-perishable foodstuffs, blankets, doonas and toiletries to St Vincent de Paul for distribution to the needy in our community. In  previous years we have organised for various year levels to bring a particular item however this year, we are much more low key. IF you are in a position to send any of these items to school as a donation please do so and we will ensure St Vincent de Paul receives them.

Since Thursday will be the children’s last day of the term, they will receive a hot dog and a drink for lunch on this day.

Please note, school will finish at 3:15pm.

ASSEMBLY We will be holding an Assembly  this coming Friday, June 17th. Unfortunately, we will need to restrict parent attendees to our Award winners only.

These children’s names are included on today’s newsletter.

COVID-19

The school will continue to send R.A.Tests home for the remainder of this term. The latest advice is that tests need only be administered if the patient has symptoms. When students and staff have tested positive for COVID-19, they must go into  7days of isolation. Family contacts, i.e. those that live in the same house as the infected individual must continue to test themselves 5 times within this 7 day period. If they remain negative they attend school but must wear a mask. If any household contact returns a positive RAT result during this period, they must isolate for 7 days and not attend school.

Vaccination requirements for visitors to schools

Parents, carers and other adult visitors (not performing work) are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
