Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students and Staff

As we approach the end of the year and a busy term 4, our students are finishing their final exams and the staff are busy grading students’ work and preparing the final school reports.

We’d like to congratulate our Year 12 students on the completion of their exams and we’d like to thank them for the valuable contribution they have made to the school over the past 6 years and wish them all the best as they prepare for the next stage of their lives. We thank all the teachers for their hard work and dedicated effort throughout the year.

All senior school students will be participating in promotional interviews. The interviews will assist the school to ensure all students are placed in the appropriate 2018 subjects that are most suitable to their ability level and adequately prepare them for entry into university, TAFE or future employment. We would like to thank Ms. La Leggia, Mrs. Rundle and staff for their expert counselling and advice provided to our students over the next few weeks.

As our students in Years 7-11 finish this year’s course work, they will move straight into their Smart Start and VCE Start programs. The aim of these programs is to introduce students into their new subjects and teachers for the 2018 academic year. These classes are an important part of the schools’ program and it is expected that all students attend these classes. Teachers will outline their courses and set homework that should be completed over the holiday period.

The Awards for Excellence Ceremony that will be held at the Knox Civic Centre in December. Students from Years 7-11 will be recognised for academic excellence, effort and community involvement. This evening provides the school community with an opportunity to recognise the positive achievements of our students in the presence of parents, staff and members of the wider community.

Thank you to Ms. Tracey Parker and Mr. Paul Graham for the work they are doing to orientate the 2018 Year 7 students into the school. These ‘mini tours’ help to make the students become more familiar with the school, the teachers and the administrators. An Orientation Day will be held on 12 December, in order to staff this program and to ensure the Grade 6 students do not feel overwhelmed, we are asking that students in Years 7-9 remain at home on this day.

We wish Mr Andrew Potter (Head of Basketball Academy) and Ms. Adrienne Tanner, and Stewart MaCartney all the best as they travel overseas with the students. Ms. Tanner, Mr. MaCartney and 10 students will fly to Thailand as part of a Rotary project. The students will be working with rural communities and helping impoverished families. Mr. Potter is taking 10 students to USA to participate in National Championship titles. We wish all teachers and students a safe and enjoyable journey.
