Book Week

The George Ivanoff Short Story Writing Competition Years 7 & 8, was part of Book Week this year and followed a writing workshop with children's author George Ivanoff.

We had 27 entries all up between the two campuses and here are the winners and runners-up with comments from George Ivanoff:

 

CLYDE NORTH CAMPUS

1st — “Fading Lights” by Tharushi Perera Wannakuwaththa Waduge Don 8I

"This story had such a lovely fairytale-like quality to it and although fantastical, it had a clear inner logic."

2nd — “Time Out” by Janice Yates 8J

"An interesting story with a well structured approach."

Equal Runner-ups —

“Crescendo” by Kirsten Canda 8J

 “Reading Detectives Story” by Rhianna Lay 8J 

 

 CRANBOURNE CAMPUS

1st — “Legacy in the Dark” by Charli Williams 7F

"This was the standout from this campus. Atmospheric and beautifully written, tackling a dark and difficult topic."

2nd — “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds” by Ria Antony 7D

"I like the way this story creates mystery and builds up tension."

Equal Runner-ups —

“The Brains of the Loch” by Devmika Bogahapitiya Lekamalage 7E

“Into Space” by Poppy Weare 8D

 

Well done and CONGRATULATIONS to the winners:

1st Prize - $50 QBD Bookshop voucher (plus a choice of a new book from the DC)

2nd Prize - $25  QBD  Bookshop voucher  (plus a choice of a new book from the DC)
