Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Our year 12 students finished their secondary school journey with dignity and respect for themselves and their school. We are very proud of the way the students conducted themselves. The last days were a celebration full of memorable moments for families and students alike.

The final assembly with a handover of student leadership roles saw new College Captain sworn in and the 2018 Captains deliver their final whole school address. Thank you to the Student Leaders of 2018 and congratulations to our new College Student Leadership Group who have stepped into the roles with ease.

College Captain:  Emmanuel Soriano & Tio Alemu

College Vice Captain: Bolis Nyok & Caitlyn Gonsalves

College Liturgy Captain: Jatila Dissanayake

College Social Justice Captain: Katherine Bruzzese

College Environment & Sustainability Captain: Thomas Cucanic

College Sports Captain: Pete Vamvakas

It is tradition for the staff and students to have breakfast together prior to the Graduation Ceremony. This is a fancy dress breakfast, 2018 was no different. Well done to all who came along and dressed up in the spirit of celebration and fun.

The Graduation Mass and Ceremony is a special event, at St Patrick’s Cathedral. It was a moving evening once again.

Sydfest rounded out the major events for the last few weeks with Samuel Johnson our guest this year. Samuel was an excellent speaker who had the audience mesmerised. A true Australian inspiration with a story of hardship, struggle and in the end coming out on top through sheer determination and hard work. A great message and tale shared. Congratulations to all of the award recipients and students recognised at Sydfest 2018.

Hall of Fame inductee - Grant Leury

Grant is a sprint canoeist who represented Australia in the K2 1000 metres at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Grant won his heat, moving through the semi-finals to qualify for the final where he came seventh. Grant graduated from CRC Sydenham in the class of ‘85.

We are extremely proud to call Grant a former student of Catholic Regional College Sydenham.

A special thank you to all families who have supported the many events and functions these past few weeks. We appreciate your involvement and commitment to the College. It is always our preference to have families present.
