Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival 2018

The Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival is an annual event that encourages a love of reading and literature, celebrates creativity and diversity, and promotes lifelong learning. 

Brimbank City Council, with support from its sponsors, has partnered with a range of internal and external stakeholders to plan and deliver a diverse and exciting festival.We are delighted to present the 2018 program, which sees partnered events with Victoria University Polytechnic, the Wurundjeri Land Council, VICSEG, cohealth,Outer Urban Projects, 100 Story Building, local writers and community groups.We hope you enjoy the program!There is no charge to attend festival events.

Drop the Mic

Learn how to write and perform your own stories in spoken word and rap and enjoy a live set from African artists such as Tenda McFly & P-unique in a chilled local setting.

African collective, Colour between the Lines presents, ‘Drop the Mic’. 

A creative writing session led by young African writers, poets and musicians exploring the elements of contemporary storytelling. For 12-25 year olds.

The Friday Night Project - 3 on 3 Basketball

Every Friday from 3.45, The Friday Night Project - a 3 on 3 Basketball comp run by Life Be In It in partnership with Brimbank Youth Services, Sydenham Neighbourhood House, Djerriwarrh and the PCYC - takes place in the Hall or on the Basketball court at CRC Sydenham.

This free weekly event is open to everyone, even if you are in the middle of your exams, and you are welcome to come along, play basketball, listen to music and enjoy free food.
