Learning Focus

Learning focus is now on examinations and final assessments as we move towards the end of the academic school year. Students have been completing Learning and Assessment Tasks across all subject areas. The final VCAA exams were completed by the year 12 cohort and the year 11 examination period is well underway. Additionally, the transition program for students moving to year 11 and 12 has also begun.

Professional Learning

This month, staff have undertaken professional learning in a range of areas as a part of our improvement focus. Staff have shared and developed expertise in using “collaboration” as a tool to engage students in their learning following on from their focus on “questioning” during term two. Sessions designed to enhance capacity in supporting students from refugee backgrounds have also been well received.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a Memorial Day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty

This year, I had the privilege of escorting two of our senior students, Noah and Alyssa to be part of the service held at the Ringwood clocktower. There, they laid a wreath on behalf of the college while Luke had the esteemed honour of playing the last post. Back at school, an official service was led by Archie Jacka and Mollie McGregor.

Valedictory

The College community was able to gather on Tuesday November 22 to acknowledge the year 12 class of 2022. Congratulations to our class of 2022 on their commitment and dedication during challenging times. They have contributed proactively and productively to the College over six years. We were able to acknowledge each student individually as well as celebrate award winners in both the VCE and VCAL program. I would like to thank the senior school leadership team for their support, encouragement, leadership and care of this cohort during their final year of formal education. Well done!

Visual Arts Exhibition

Well done to the visual arts team led by Ms Mihailidis on the return to a live art exhibition this year. The quality and standard of work on display was outstanding and included displays from all year levels across many genres. I am always amazed by the talent, creativity, and passion that young people bring to their work and this year was no exception. Congratulations to all students who displayed their work and thank you to all staff for their encouragement and leadership.

State Champions

Congratulations to our year 7 boys volleyball team who have been crowned STATE CHAMPIONS at a recent interschool event.  After winning through several stages throughout the year, the energetic and talented team were able to defeat Westall High School in two straight sets. Well done boys and thanks to your coach Mr Simkin.
