Secondary School Leadership Program 2021
The MHS vice captains Patrick and Rahna visited NSW Parliament House to participate in the NSW Secondary Schools Leadership Conference. Throughout the day, our school leaders were able to discuss the effectiveness of NSW Parliament and engage in a number of activities that showcased their leadership in a variety of settings. Both Patrick and Rahna were able to capitalise on their Legal Studies knowledge and negotiate their way through a series of rigorous activities. Thank you for representing MHS with pride and participating in this program.
Work Experience for LEAP students at Bunnings, Smithfield
A small group of students from our LEAP Team are currently gaining some valuable skills through work experience at Bunnings Smithfield. The staff at Bunnings are incredibly kind and welcoming. The students have been restocking shelves, attending team meetings, helping in the garden centre and doing some DIY jobs. It is a rewarding experience for the students and they look forward to going to Bunnings every week.
Work Ready Day
On the 30th April, Year 11 VET students participated in the Work Ready Day at Merrylands Bowling Club. The students attended a Work Ready Seminar addressed by Nikki Heald, the MD from Corptraining whereby they learnt about the skills to have a successful work placement experience. The students looked professional in their formal attire and participated in the mock interviews and created well presented resumes. The students also enjoyed delicious buffet for lunch at the club.
Netball Knockouts
Congratulations to the Open Girls Netball team who competed in Round 3 of the Sydney West Netball Knockout Competition. Unfortunately we lost to Greystanes but the team demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and cheered each other on throughout the game regardless of the score. Their hard work training every fortnight did not go unnoticed.
Our Under 15s team will be competing early in Term 3. It has been great to see students attend regular training and building their team communication at each practice.
