Individual success

Netball 15yrs and under – Haleina Suafoa Tanoi – despite still being bottom age, Haleina has just made the Victorian Schools State Netball team to play at the National schools championships  in Perth. This is a massive result for her as it is one of the highest demand sports for girls trying out.

More information will be in the next newsletter once some clarification of others is confirmed. If any student reaches this level please let us know as you should be very proud of your achievement.

Results

Lawn Bowls - Our lawn bowls team did well but lost their pool result on a countback. Three teams tied and the countback was decided by "shots scored". The winning team played a team of beginners in the first round and thrashed them, we played this team -Western Heights - last and they had improved, so we did not defeat them by as much. We lost on countback 26 shots to 20. We def Maribyrnong College 6-3, lost to Bayside 3-6, def Western Heights 11-2

Division swimming

A big thank you to the very small team that represented us at the Division swimming carnival recently. Considering the number of swimmers- approx. 20 with only 4 boys in total, we have some outstanding success with many multiple winners. Unfortunately, again, we led going into the freestyle relays but the lack of numbers, especially boys, cost us big time and we were overrun by Sunbury Downs.

1st Sunbury Downs       447.0

2nd Melton                       394.0

3rd Gisborne                    358.5

4th Melton Christian C  327.0

5th Sunbury                      291.0

6th Staughton                  243.0

7th Bacchus Marsh        135.5

8th Kurunjang                     98.0

9th Alice Miller                   77.0

Multiple event winners were Layla Mahfouz 5 wins, Aleisha Busuttil 4 wins, Emily Challis 3 wins and Angela Lavanda 2 wins.

Athletics Carnival

This will be held Friday, 28 April,  Week 1 next term. Students can currently submit an interest to be considered for a house selection online via the Compass post – INSIGHTS. It takes a few minutes and the house leaders use this as a guide. If students do not enter then the leaders are not aware of any interest, especially for the unknown juniors. We will be holding the 1,500m events at school on a separate day to be decided. Parents are welcome to attend. Only students who have signed the General Consent form will be allowed to attend. Every student has been given one of these to fill in a number of times this term. It is also available on the Insights tab.

Entries and Trainings

Students need to sign up to be considered for team selections on a Compass post via the INSIGHTS tab. This gives us an indication whether we have the interested numbers to enter a team. If students fail to sign up then we have to assume that there is little interest and that team will not be entered.

Trainings will most likely occur on Mondays and Fridays afterschool 3.15pm-4.15pm. Some Thursdays may also need to be introduced in the middle terms due to the number of teams expected to enter.

General Sport Excursion Reminders

  • All consent forms must be returned like every other excursion to the front office WITH the payment by the due date on the form.
  • No student will be allowed to bring the consent form on the day and/or bring the money on the day.
  • No CONSENT form - No MONEY –  not returned by DUE date = No GO = get left behind = unhappy team and coach
  • If your family qualify for the Camps and Excursions fund provided by the Govt. you need to collect a form from the General Office. This helps you pay for all camps and excursions, but it must be registered by June. You can only access the fund after your form has been processed.
