Highlights from a successful year – School Council

To SMPPS parents and carers, I’d like to take this opportunity to send my thanks to your School Council for what has been a huge year. We’ve achieved some great things this year led by Council, our sub committees and supported by you – our families and community. Here are just a few of the highlights.

Environment and facilities

• Classroom walls project
• Air conditioning
• Cages in the gym
• First Father’s Day working bee
• Ramps, safety enhancements (railings), painted steps, outside trees removed

Wellbeing

• Inclusion related to language - newsletter
• Brekkie to kids and family food restarted to feed hungry kids and families
• Bendigo Community Bank Grant to run Inform & Empower program in 2026
• Successful second hand uniform shop
• Succinct agenda with progress on shared contributions

Events

• A record-breaking walk-a-thon fundraiser
• A fabulous parent’s gala night
• An amazing Art Show
• Gorgeous community events for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Teacher Appreciation Day and Primary Principal’s Day and so much more
• Over $40,000 raised

It’s been a busy, community-oriented year, and our thanks go out to all the volunteers, the people who donate, the behind the scenes do-ers who work tirelessly for our school.
