5/6 QALO

This week, 5/6 Qalo had the honour of welcoming Laurence, a 93-year-old gentleman who shared his personal experiences of being evacuated from Bristol, England as a child during World War II.

As part of our unit on World War II, this was a powerful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the human impact of war and to hear firsthand what life was like during that time. I was incredibly proud of the way students conducted themselves—listening with genuine curiosity and respect, and asking thoughtful questions that reflected their engagement and empathy.

Hearing Laurence’s stories brought history to life in a way no textbook ever could, and we are truly grateful for his time and generosity in sharing such important memories.
