CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

The Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important Marian feasts in the Church. It celebrates the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken up into heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. This teaching is not found directly in the Bible, but it is part of the long tradition and faith of the Church. In 1950, Pope Pius XII formally declared it a dogma of the Catholic faith.

Mary’s Assumption is a sign of the hope that we all have in Christ. Because she said “yes” to God completely and lived a holy life, she now shares fully in His glory. Her Assumption shows us what God promises to all who remain faithful — life with Him forever in heaven.

This feast reminds us that Mary is close to God and continues to pray for us as our spiritual mother. It also calls us to live with trust and faith, like Mary did, and to remember that our lives are part of something bigger — God's loving plan for the world.

On this day, Catholics all over the world honour Mary with prayer, celebration, and reflection, thanking God for her life and for the hope she brings to us all. As a school community we will celebrate this solemnity by having a Mass in the school hall at 9:15am. Families and friends are welcome to attend.

Australia Catholic Youth Festival - ACYF

We are offering Year 10 students the exciting opportunity to attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) in Melbourne — ACYF is the largest national Catholic youth gathering in Australia.

ACYF is a three-day celebration of faith, community, music, and inspiration, bringing together thousands of young people from across the country. ACYF provides young people the opportunity to connect, deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to live their faith in the world and experience the breadth of the Church in Australia. The Festival will include opportunities for engagement with other young people, Bishops, musicians and speakers.
