What's Coming Up in November

🍃 What's Coming Up in November! 🐎🏊‍♀️

November is shaping up to be another busy and exciting month at Gray Street Primary School! With swimming programs, our 2027 Prep Transition Program, some special events and our much-loved weekly activities, there is plenty to look forward to as we head towards the final weeks of the school year!

🐎 Monday 2nd November – Prep Buddy Horse Race

Get ready for some Melbourne Cup fun! Our Preps and their Year 6 buddies will be taking part in our annual Prep Buddy Horse Race, commencing at 3.05pm. This is always a fun-filled event, with plenty of excitement, laughter and cheering as our youngest students and their buddies join in the racing spirit. We look forward to seeing everyone enjoy this special Gray Street tradition!

🏆 Tuesday 3rd November – Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

A reminder to all families that Tuesday 3rd November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday, and there will be no school on this day. We hope everyone enjoys the opportunity for a relaxing day with family and friends. School will resume as normal on Wednesday 4th November.

🎒 4th, 10th & 17th November – 2027 Prep Transition Program

We are very excited to welcome our 2027 Prep students as they continue their transition journey at Gray Street Primary School!

Our transition sessions provide our future Preps with a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with their new school environment, meet teachers, make new friends and begin building their confidence ahead of starting school next year.

Through fun, engaging and age-appropriate activities, children will experience a little taste of school life while developing a sense of belonging within our school community.

We look forward to getting to know our newest Gray Street students and their families as they prepare for this exciting milestone!

📚 Monday 16th November – Report Writing Day (Student Free Day)

A reminder to families that Monday 16th November is a Report Writing Day, and students are not required to attend school.

This day provides our teachers with dedicated time to focus on preparing students' end-of-year reports. Teachers will be busy reviewing student progress, reflecting on individual achievements and learning growth, and preparing detailed reports that celebrate each child's successes throughout the year.

We appreciate families' understanding and support in allowing our teachers this valuable time to ensure reports provide meaningful feedback on each student's learning journey.

We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday 17th November!

🏊 Monday 23rd – Friday 27th November – Years 5/6 Swimming Program

Our Year 5 and 6 students will be heading to the pool for their swimming program!

Swimming is an important part of our school's Physical Education program, providing students with the opportunity to develop their swimming abilities, water safety knowledge and confidence in and around water.

Throughout the week, students will participate in lessons designed to build on their existing skills, improve their swimming techniques and reinforce important water safety messages.

Swimming is not only a fantastic life skill but also a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, develop independence and enjoy learning outside the classroom.

Families are reminded to keep an eye on XUNO for further information regarding what students need to bring each day.

🏊 Monday 30th November – Friday 4th December – Prep Swimming Program

It's time for our youngest students to make a splash!

Our Prep students will be participating in their swimming program, where the focus will be on building confidence, developing basic swimming skills and learning how to stay safe around water.

For some children, this may be their first experience participating in swimming lessons with their school friends, making it an especially exciting opportunity!

Lessons will encourage students to become more comfortable in the water while developing essential skills through fun and supportive activities.

We can't wait to see our Preps enjoying themselves, learning new skills and growing in confidence throughout the week.

🥣 Every Wednesday – Grab & Go Breakfast Club!

Our Grab & Go Breakfast Club continues every Wednesday morning from 8.30am to 8.50am, outside the canteen.

It's a wonderful way for students to start their school day with a nutritious breakfast, catch up with friends and get ready for a great day of learning.

Breakfast options may vary from week to week, with favourites including cereal, baked beans, spaghetti and fruit.

To help our school reduce waste and look after the environment, we encourage students to bring their own mug, cup or bowl, along with a spoon.

We love seeing students enjoying breakfast together and encourage everyone to come along!

🍦 Every Friday – Zooper Dooper Friyay!

Friday afternoons are even sweeter with Zooper Dooper Friyay!

Our wonderful Year 6 Team will continue selling Zooper Doopers from the canteen every Friday throughout Term 4 for just $1 each.

It's a great way to cool down as the weather warms up, celebrate the end of another busy school week and support our Year 6 students.

Remember to bring along your $1 so you don't miss out on this refreshing Friday treat!

❤️ Looking Ahead to the End of the Year

It's hard to believe we are already heading into November! With only a few weeks of the school year remaining, there is still so much learning, fun and excitement ahead.

As we move closer to December, we encourage families to keep an eye on XUNO, our school newsletter and Facebook page for important dates, reminders and information about upcoming end-of-year activities.

Thank you to our wonderful families for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to making the most of another fantastic month at Gray Street Primary School!
