 2026 NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER

Parent–Teacher Interviews and Preparing for 2027

This week, our staff opened their classroom doors to welcome parents and carers for our second round of Parent Teacher Interviews for the year. This is the first year we have offered Parent Teacher Interview evenings twice. Following our first round of interviews early in Term 2, staff felt strongly about the value of investing time for conversations regarding progress in student learning, along with addressing any wellbeing concerns. We thank families for their positive response to making time this week.

As we move into November, staff will be focusing on three key priorities: completing end of year assessments, writing student reports and developing our 2027 grades. Our enrolment projection for next year is slightly less, with 40 Grade 6 students preparing to transition to secondary school and 36 new Prep students joining us. This places our anticipated enrolment at 285 students and 13 grades with the support of 4 specialist teachers. In regard to our staffing planning for next year we are close to finalising the teacher allocation to grades and will be able to share this soon.

2027 Class Formation

Forming our 13 classes is a significant piece of work that involves many conversations, reviewing student data and carefully considering the needs of each child. Over the next four Thursday afternoons students will participate in a whole school transition program, taking part in activities that will help staff develop balanced class groupings, consider friendships and establish positive, focused learning environments. I thank our staff for the proactive, thoughtful and collaborative approach they are taking to this important process.

Kinder Transition

Next week we also look forward to welcoming our 2027 Prep students as our Kinder Transition Program begins. Our first session will take place on Wednesday morning with children spending a small amount of time at school to become familiar with their new school environment. This time will then increase over the following two Tuesday’s ahead of a whole morning on our Statewide Transition Day in December.

Staffing Update

Staff planning for next year is well underway and we are close to finalising the teacher allocation to grades. At this stage we can share that all our current teaching staff will be returning next year except for Mrs Jessica Smith who is returning to her substantive role at George Street P.S prior to baby number 2 arriving in April.  At the end of the year we will also be saying goodbye to Mrs Stacey Stewart who has been fortunate enough to pick up with a Phys Ed Position at St Marys Primary School next year. Stacey has been a fabulous addition to our team this year in her Phys Ed Role on a Wednesday.
