Student Safety

The safety of all students was paramount during the incident at school last week. The drills and practices we conduct with students and staff throughout the year ensured our students were well prepared for a lock down procedure, they were safe with their classroom teacher and remained calm throughout the time. I have been working with the Department of Education to plan some wellbeing lessons that will be delivered to the students in the coming week by their classroom teacher. The focus of these sessions will be identify what it means to be safe, and that it is important that we feel safe at school, at home and in the community. Students will be supported to identify where, with whom and what it means to feel safe. Students will develop a Plan that helps them when they are not feeling safe. This Plan will include identifying warning signs, who they may be able to speak to at home and school and what things help them to feel better. This Plan can be applied across a range of different situations, in the school and at home.

We are currently undergoing our School Review and the panel members would love to hear from you. If you are available on Monday 20 November at 9:00am, then pop along to the staffroom and join in conversation with our Reviewer, providing feedback and ideas for the future academic and wellbeing direction of the school.

Parent Volunteers Needed - Whole School Picnic At Lillydale Lake

The end of year Whole School Picnic (Tuesday 19 December) is fast approaching and we need parent volunteers to help with the BBQ lunch that is provided for all students. If you are interested and able to help out for a couple of hours on the day please call Kate in the office on 9870 2120 to discuss.

Music Soiree

At 5:30pm on Tuesday 28 November our instrumental students will be entertaining the crowds with the pieces they have been learning. A great celebration of the work undertaken this year.

Parent Volunteer Morning Tea

On Friday 1 December at 10:40am we invite everyone who has supported the school in a volunteer capacity this year (e.g. BBQs, Fathering Project, in classrooms, excursions, PMP, camps, running stalls, Italian Day etc...etc...). Come along and join the staff in a morning tea, to say:

Transition Activities

Last Friday all students participated in the first transition activity in preparation for 2024. We welcomed our 2024 Foundation students and all other students "Stepped Up" to the next year level, meeting teachers and other students in the new grade levels. The purpose of the activity is to familiarise students with new spaces and faces and support them to transition smoothly at the beginning of the new year. There are three sessions still to go - Friday 24 November, Friday 8 December and Tuesday 12 December. The Tuesday session is longer and a photograph will be taken on this day of the new class. This can be placed in a prominent position at home and be referred to at the start of the school year 2024.

Mullum's Got Talent

At lunchtime yesterday students were invited to perform in "Mullum's Got Talent". Singing, dancing, musical performances abound.

Global Ambassador - "Little Things With Wings" Project

Last week the Global Ambassador students in Grade 5 visited local indigenous plant nursery CRISP in Greenwood Ave, Ringwood. The purpose of the visit was to learn about indigenous plants of Maroondah that will be purchased as part of the new garden bed at the back of the school that is designed to provide habitat for little things with wings.
