Primary School Co-curricular Clubs – Term 3
Primary School Co-curricular Clubs commence this Term, offering students a wide range of opportunities to explore new interests, develop skills and connect with others beyond the classroom. This Term's program aims to provide something for everyone, with activities available each day across all year levels and a balanced mix of technology, physical activities, the Arts and more. Assembly - Monday 3 August
Our first Primary School Assembly for Term 3 will take place at 2.15pm on Monday 3 August in The Farrall Centre. We welcome members of our community to attend. Please remember that due to privacy concerns and to respect the photo permission choices of other families we ask you to refrain from taking photos and videos during assemblies.
Basketball Clinics in Years 2-6 PE, Federal Street and Revell Centre - 29 July - 24 August
Students in Years 2-6 will be participating in Basketball Clinics during their PE lessons for the first four weeks of Term 3. Sessions will take place either in the Revell Centre on the Senior School Campus, or at a private court in Federal Street in North Hobart which students will travel to by bus.
Please see the relevant dates, times and locations for the clinics below, noting that if the sessions are at Federal Street students will be departing school approximately 10 minutes prior to the session commencing and then arriving back at school 10 minutes after the clinic finishes.

Prep OE Excursion - Cornelian Bay - Wednesday 12 August
On Wednesday 12 August, Prep students will be participating in an Outdoor Education Day at Cornelian Bay. Class teachers, learning assistants and Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education teacher, will accompany the students on the excursion. We will be departing school at 9.45am am and returning by 1.00pm.
The aim of the day is to explore the local bushlands while developing relationships with peers. Students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform and sturdy shoes to walk in. They are also to bring a backpack with food for first break, rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper, beanie, sun hat. No lunch orders on this day. Year 2 OE Excursion - Waterworks Reserve - Day of Poo - Friday 14 August
On Friday 14 August, Year 2 will be heading to Waterworks Reserve by bus with their class teachers and Outdoor Education Teacher, Emily Ardas. Students will be exploring animal adaptations, primarily through the study of animal scat. We will be departing at 9.15am returning back to school by 2.00pm.
Students should wear sports uniforms on this day, but will need to bring a warm jumper (wool, polar fleece or puffer jacket), beanie, sun hat, gloves and a waterproof raincoat as it could be very cold. As we will be away from school for most of the day, students will need to bring a large packed lunch (no lunch orders), snacks and drink from home. No lunch orders on this day. The Friends’ School Welcomes University of West Texas Musicians - 30 July
We are thrilled to be hosting the music faculty and students of the University of West Texas here at The Friends' School this week as part of a music residency. We invite friends and family of The Friends’ School community to join us for a free concert this Thursday 30 July from 6 pm in the Farrall Centre, where our Development and Intermediate Bands, and Senior Wind Ensemble will share the stage in a 90 minute concert with our visiting artists.
