The Friends’ School Welcomes University of West Texas Musicians - 30 July
We are thrilled to be hosting the music faculty and students of the University of West Texas here at The Friends' School this week as part of a music residency. We invite friends and family of The Friends’ School community to join us for a free concert this Thursday 30 July from 6 pm in the Farrall Centre, where our Development and Intermediate Bands, and Senior Wind Ensemble will share the stage in a 90 minute concert with our visiting artists.
What are the Quaker testimonies at Friends’?
Parents, guardians and community members are warmly invited to attend a discussion led by our Quaker Gathering Advisor, Jess Dundas, and Quaker Advisor, Mark Macleod, who will share information about the Quaker testimonies: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Earthcare and Equality (sometimes simplified to “SPICEE”).
As part of the session, we will explore how some of these testimonies are expressed in daily life at Friends’ and in the wider world and together we will all brainstorm ideas for how you might encourage discussion and action.
When: Wednesday 12 August | 9am (tea/coffee from 8.45am)
Venue: Friends Meeting House - Argyle Street Campus (5 Boa Vista Road)
There is no cost to attend this event, however for planning and catering, please book here. We look forward to seeing you there.
Argyle Street Covered Court Access and Works on Saturday
A reminder that access to the Campus will remain along a dedicated walkway next to Friends’ Early Learning. Please refer to the following pedestrian map. We ask that all staff, families and students to take extra care when moving in and out of the Campus in this area during Term 3.
Please be advised that works and truck movement will be in operation at the Covered Court Project this Saturday 1 August, with traffic controllers on site to assist with traffic flows from 9:30am.
Kindergarten 2028 Enrolments Now Open
Families with children eligible for Kindergarten in 2028 are encouraged to submit an enrolment application. If you are planning to enrol a younger sibling at The Friends' School, we recommend applying as early as possible. Early applications help us accommodate sibling enrolments before finalising our Kindergarten intake.
To begin the enrolment process or for more information, please email the Enrolments Team or phone (03) 6210 2286.
Quaker Meetings for Worship
All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.
Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.
If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please email the Clerk, Margaret Bywater.
Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship
Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.40am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Middle School Office on Boa Vista Road.
Community Yoga – Returning in Term 4
Please note that Community Yoga will pause over the winter period and will return in Term 4. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the mat later in the year.
