Last week we had 12 of our students participated in the District Cross Country event. Four of our students were very successful and made it through to the Division competition today at Ruffey Park.

Congratulations to Abigail who came 3rd, Nate came 11th, Annabelle was 30th and Connor came 7th.

What an outstanding achievement for all of these students. The top 10 finishers in each age group will progress through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Championships on Thursday, 11 June at Yarra Glen Racecourse. We wish them continued success at this next level.

Gala Day

Last Thursday our Year 3 and 4 students attended the District Winter Sports Gala Day.

The students took part in soccer and netball competitions at Terrara Park and at Sportslink, Vermont South. It was a very successful day with our students showing great teamwork and sportsmanship, and with many wins on the day.

GALA DAY Recount by Harriet

‘Harriet?’ ‘Here,’ I called out as Mrs Hendy took the roll for both Year 3/4 classes. As I excitedly got on the bus I found a row near my friends. About 10 minutes later we arrived at Sportslink. Mrs Hendy asked all the netballers to get off here. As I walked up the stairs I opened the door and a wave of nervousness hit me as I realised how many teams we had to beat but I knew my friends and I could do this.

The umpire explained the horn we would hear when the game was over. As I walked down to our court with my team I felt proud and confident.  We played 8 games and only lost 1 of them. The first game was against  the other St Johns team. They were hard but we beat them and plus they were older than us so I think that was my favorite game to play. It was a great challenge and a fun day.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and we’re excited to be taking part! All children from Prep to Year 6 are welcome to join in. Your child has been given their login details and teachers also have a copy in classrooms.

This year’s Challenge theme is ‘Stories to discover. Stories to tell’. Stories can inspire and challenge us, and help us grow. They open our eyes to new worlds and new ways of thinking. The number of books read can be varied for everyone's needs.

All children who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former premiers.
