Welcome to Week 3 - Gospel: John 3:16–18
This Aboriginal artwork depicts creation, community gathering circles, pathways, rivers and people connected to Country, visually reinforcing the Gospel message that God loves the whole world and every person within it.
This Aboriginal artist is Richard Campbell who is known for his vibrant colours and beautiful Christian art works.
This week's Gospel comes from a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, a Jewish leader who was trying to understand who Jesus was and why he had come. In this famous story, Jesus explains that God loves every person so deeply that He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus was not sent to condemn or punish people, but to show God's love and offer everyone the opportunity to live in relationship with Him. At its heart, this Gospel reminds us that God's love is a gift freely given to all people.
Wonderings for Students
- I wonder if you know and understand that God loves you so much?
- I wonder how you can share God's love with someone this week?
- I wonder who in your life helps you feel loved and valued?
- I wonder what Jesus wants us to learn about kindness and acceptance from this Gospel?
- I wonder how our actions can help others experience God's love?
Wonderings for Families
- I wonder how we show unconditional love within our families?
- I wonder when we have experienced love that expected nothing in return?
- I wonder how this Gospel challenges us to see the goodness in others?
- I wonder how our family can be a sign of hope, compassion and welcome to others in our community?
Upcoming SHINE Day School Celebration- June 16
We are excited to invite you to our SHINE Day Celebration 2026, a special day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the unique gifts and talents of every child. Throughout the day, students will participate in a variety of engaging activities, including music and performance workshops with Gen Bryant, who will inspire our students to sing, create, grow in confidence and truly shine.
Our students will be asked to dress in shiny sparkly clothes or even a splash of it for the day.
As a Catholic school community, SHINE Day is also an opportunity for students to reflect on how their personal talents and gifts can be used to serve others and bring God's light into the world. Through Scripture activities and faith-filled experiences, students will explore Jesus' message in Matthew 5:15:
"Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."
This reminds us that God calls each of us to share our talents, show kindness, and make a positive difference in the lives of others. By allowing our light to shine, we strengthen our Catholic identity and help build a community of faith, hope and love.
We warmly invite parents, families and friends to join us for three special parts of the day:
- 9:00am – Whole School Introduction with Gen Bryant
- 10:30am – Family Shared Picnic (please bring your own lunch and picnic rug to enjoy on the school green; in wet weather the picnic will be held in the Durkin Hall)
2:00pm – Whole School SHINE Concert in the Coghlan Centre, showcasing the talents and learning of our students.
We look forward to sharing this joyful celebration of faith, community and learning with you as together we encourage our students to let their light shine.
"Let your light shine before others." – Matthew 5:16
