Specialist Classes

ITALIAN
Throughout the F-2 unit on Il piccolo bruco maisazio (The Very Hungry Caterpillar) students have looked at colours. Last week, the Foundation students learnt about patterns and how to say some of the colours in Italian.
The senior students made a game of 'Memory' using different types of weather they have learnt in Italian. This is part of their 'Vacanza!' (Holiday!) unit. They had so much fun playing their very own games with their class mates.
SPORT
The F-2 continue to focus on throwing in their FMS (Foundational Motor Skills) program.
Due to weather conditions, the throwing was moved inside which meant soft balls and balloons!! Balloons are also a great lesson in sharing, teamwork and resilience... so with some collaboratively agreed rules, we could make it fair for everyone and enjoy some fun versions of Keepy-Uppy.
We also received our brand-new School vortexes, which have arrived just in time for the school Athletics Carnival this Friday!!
The 3-6 classes are fortunate enough to have a netball coach on site for the next few weeks.
Emma Quinn is joining us from Netball Victoria and has already introduced some popular games that the children are even continuing to play at Lunch time! Popular favourites are 'Paper, Rock, Scissors' and 'Fox and Goose'.
We can't wait to see what else Emma has in store for us over the remaining 3 lessons.
ART
It's been wonderful to watch the children's enthusiasm during the textile's unit. We've largely focused on weaving and the 1/2's made some paper plate handbags. The Grade 3 class have thoroughly enjoyed designing and creating their own animal inspired finger puppets - and they look great! Meanwhile, the 4/5/6's have continued with the pom-pom's and fashioning them into buntings for display. This week concludes our textiles unit, and next fortnight we will commence Aboriginal Art.
DIGITECH
Students in 3-6 are almost finished with their websites! We’ve learned about adding and manipulating images, resizing and adding effects to text, adding links and videos, and much more! The next step is to add headings for our pages and sections for easy navigation. We’re looking forward to sharing them with you later in the year.
