Message From Our Principal

Mrs Jackie Stockdale

As we enter Week 9 of Term 2, it is hard to believe that we have only two weeks remaining before the end of the semester. This time of year provides an opportunity to reflect on the many achievements, learning experiences, and moments of growth that have taken place across our school community. As we continue to support our students in finishing the term strongly, we are reminded of the words from Scripture: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9). May these words encourage us all to persevere with faith, kindness, and gratitude as we work together through the final weeks of Term 2.

I am so pleased to introduce our new School Breakfast Program, which will be available to all students every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Breakfast will be served from 8:30am to 8:55am, providing students with a healthy and nutritious start to their day. We encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a balanced breakfast, connect with friends, and arrive in class ready to learn. We look forward to supporting the wellbeing and success of all our students through this exciting initiative.

Today we had our St Patrick’s Athletics Day which was a wonderful success and a fantastic celebration of participation, sportsmanship, and school spirit. I would like to sincerely thank our parent volunteers, whose support throughout the day was greatly appreciated. A special thank you must also go to our dedicated staff, whose organisation, encouragement, and commitment ensured the day was both enjoyable and successful for all students. We are also extremely grateful to Kyabram Little Athletics for their expertise and assistance in helping the events run smoothly, as well as Kyabram P-12 College for the use of their excellent facilities. A special thank you goes to the students from St Augustine’s College, whose enthusiasm and willingness to assist our younger students made a significant contribution to the day. The Athletics Day was a wonderful example of our community coming together to support our children, and we are truly grateful for the generosity, partnership, and spirit shown by everyone involved.

Thank you to all of our families, students, and staff who generously contributed to our Winter Coat Collection. The overwhelming response reflects the caring and compassionate spirit of our St Patrick’s community. Through your kindness, we have been able to collect a wonderful range of warm coats and winter clothing, which will be donated to Tongala Community House and Kyabram Community House to support local individuals and families during the colder months. This initiative has provided a meaningful opportunity for our students to put their faith into action by helping those in need. As Jesus reminds us, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). We are grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make a positive difference in the lives of others within our wider community.

During our recent staff meeting, our team participated in a Steplab Group Rehearsal.

Just like our students, our staff are continually learning, refining their practice and striving to improve. StepLab provides us with the opportunity to deliberately discuss, rehearse and strengthen evidence-based teaching techniques that help us get the very best out of ourselves and our students.

Just as athletes rehearse before game day and surgeons practise procedures before entering the operating theatre, teachers need opportunities to rehearse and refine their craft. Tonight, staff rehearsed the technique Publicly Narrate Met Expectations — a strategy that focuses on recognising and describing the positive learning behaviours we want to see in our classrooms. Through rehearsal and feedback, staff practised how to use this technique effectively so that it becomes a natural part of everyday teaching.

We know that performing at our best in the classroom requires ongoing practice, reflection and improvement.

At St Patrick's, we are committed to being lifelong learners and continually improving so that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Mini Paddie's Playgroup continues to be a wonderful success, with many new families joining us throughout the term. It has been a delight to welcome so many parents, carers, and young children into our school community and to see the friendships and connections that are being formed each week. The playgroup provides a warm and welcoming environment where children can learn through play while becoming familiar with our school setting. We thank Abby and families who help make Mini Paddie's such a positive and enjoyable experience, and we look forward to continuing to grow this special community as the year progresses.

It was wonderful to see so many of our senior students proudly represent St Patrick’s at the recent interschool netball competition. The students demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and school pride throughout the day. Opportunities such as these allow our students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop valuable skills both on and off the court. We congratulate all participants on their efforts and thank the staff and supporters who helped make the day such a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

In 2026, we will continue to place a strong focus on student attendance, as regular and punctual school attendance is vital for learning, wellbeing, and long-term success. Being at school every day helps students build strong routines, maintain friendships, and fully engage with their learning. We appreciate the ongoing support of families in prioritising attendance and working in partnership with the school to ensure every child has the best possible opportunity to thrive.
