First Aid Training
Last Tuesday, during Wellbeing Week, every grade took part in a first aid incursion led by Myriah, Luca in Prep’s mum. In Grade 6, we learnt about CPR, the recovery position and how to recognise an emergency and call Triple Zero for help. We also explored the role of defibrillators and how paramedics help people in emergencies. It was a valuable opportunity to learn skills that could help us care for others.
On Friday, the learning continued with an ambulance visit to our school! We stepped inside to explore the equipment and learn what happens when paramedics respond to an emergency. As the ambulance left, we even heard its siren, a memorable finish to the visit!
A big thank you to Luca’s parents for sharing their time and knowledge with us and helping us learn how to respond in an emergency.

Footy Colours Day Fundraiser
For footy colours we raised $980, we were raising money for a charity that supports children with cancer and that their parents can stay with them while they receive treatment. The social justice team went around Elwood putting up posters to support the footy colors day fundraiser.
One generous community member donated $100. We were delighted to put up all our posters and see how willing our community was to support this cause. Thank you to everyone who donated, displayed a poster or joined in, you helped make our fundraiser a success!
Dancing Through Wellbeing Week
The whole school participated in a dance incursion hosted by the very cool Will, where each class learnt a hiphop routine. After a day full of dance, everyone showcased their new moves.
Everyone's performances were amazing. The teachers even showed us their dance moves, it was very fun. Everyone had a fantastic time, everyone learnt some new moves and skills and tried something different.

On Friday, students from Grades 3 to 6 who qualified competed at Division Athletics.
We took part in events like hurdles, long distance races and relays, where we raced to pass the baton to our teammates. Everyone cheered each other on and tried their best. The races were exciting, and it was fun to compete against other schools. We had a great day running, cheering and having fun with our friends. It was a great experience. Special mention to our Grade 6 Anna, who set a division record in shotput! Go Anna!
On the last day of Term 3 we celebrated Footy Colours Day! It was such a fun day! In the morning we had an assembly and made team banners for our footy team that we go for in the AFL. Then, we had the parade! We played each team's song as the supporters of that team ran around the track and ran through the banner at the end.
While the rest of the school had recess, the Grade 6s headed down to the grassy area near the beach to set up a footy-themed St Columba’s Kids session. Later on, the rest of the school came down and we started our St Columba's Kids and did fun foot rotations. It was a very hot day and we all had so much fun. We’d like to congratulate everyone who took part in Footy Colours Day, with a special congratulations to the students who won the longest kick competition in each grade. Well done, everyone!

STEAM Team
Hello everyone, we are the STEAM team, and we'd like to share what the Grade 6’s have been doing in STEAM.
We split into groups to debate the statement: “AI makes us smarter.” Two groups agreed with the statement and two groups disagreed with the statement.
One argument for AI was that it can give us feedback and suggestions to improve our work, while still leaving us to make the changes and do the thinking ourselves.
One argument against AI was that the information can come from untrustworthy or unreliable websites and could be incorrect so we need to check it carefully.
We listened to the other teams’ arguments and prepared responses, to explain why we agreed or disagreed. This helped us practise our teamwork, critical thinking and public speaking.
We also wanted to remind you that at lunchtimes, on Wednesdays, there is coding club led by Will from Year 4
