Uniform Policy

A school uniform plays a key role in fostering pride in students' appearance, promoting a sense of belonging within the school community, and encouraging pride in representing the school. Additionally, considerations such as equality, health and safety, and cost are important factors in shaping our Dress Code policy.

Aims and Objectives

Our uniform policy is grounded in the belief that a school uniform:

  • Promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • Fosters a feeling of community and belonging
  • Ensures students feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance

Uniform

We maintain high standards of personal appearance and greatly appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping to uphold this. All students are required to always wear the correct school uniform while on school premises and during any school-related excursions or activities.

  • Uniform items must adhere to the specified colour and style outlined in the official school uniform guide. Only official school items purchased through the designated school uniform supplier are permitted; alternative items will not be accepted.
  • All uniform items should be clearly labelled with the student’s name for identification.
  • Students are encouraged to take pride in wearing their school uniform and are expected to always be clean and tidy.
  • No wearing of jewellery, other than a watch and earrings (sleepers and studs). This includes soldered bracelets.
  • Nail polish and make-up are not to be worn.

Accessories

  • A wristwatch and earrings that are plain silver or gold studs or sleepers are the only accessories that are part of the school uniform.
  • Necklaces of cultural or religious significance may only be worn, and these should be kept inside the student’s shirt, these will preferably have a fine chain.
  • Nail polish and make-up is not permitted.
  • Hair accessories should be within the school colours, this includes bows, headbands and elastics. - Green or navy
  • During Term 1 and 4 hair styles should not impede the wearing of the St. Carlo’s hat.

Cold Weather Accessories

During these colder months, you might feel the need to further protect your child from the cold weather. Kindly follow these guidelines:

  • Scarves should be the St Carlo’s Scarf. Dark blue or dark green are permitted (no patterns or designs).
  • Beanies must be the St Carlo's beanie. The school uniform shops also sell beanies and scarves.

The Role of Parents

  • Support the school in upholding the St Carlo Borromeo image and ensure that their child abides by this uniform policy.
  • Send their children to our school dressed in the official school uniform.
