Konnichiwa, Monty Community!
We had an amazing Japanese Day at Monty, filled with Japanese atmosphere and excitement!
The day began with a special assembly featuring 4O’s creative and entertaining Haiku presentation, followed by energetic Japanese taiko drumming by Walakado. Students came dressed as well-known Japanese characters and enthusiastically participated in a variety of fun Japanese-themed activities run by our Monty teachers and Year 6 Japanese helpers.
Students enjoyed a wide range of exciting Japanese activities, including Sakura painting, Samurai hat decorating, Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors) games, cotton sushi making, kimono designing, Japanese uchiwa (fan) making, kendama making, manga drawing, origami, the Tokyo Skytree Tower Challenge, Japanese dango jelly cooking, Japanese drumming workshops and much more.
We finished the day with a successful Japanese mini-market after school, where students and families enjoyed traditional Japanese sweets called Anmitsu.
A special thank you to our wonderful Japanese mums who generously gave their time to help throughout the day and contribute to the preparation of some activities. Your support and enthusiasm helped make Japanese Day such a success!
ありがとうございました (Arigatou gozaimashita) – thank you so much to everyone who helped make Japanese Day such a memorable and enjoyable celebration!
