MC Masterplan: Katie Hall (MP) visits Maribyrnong College
On Friday 15 November, Katie Hall (MP for Footscray) visited our school to learn more about the MC Masterplan. Katie met with students, parents and staff to discuss the urgent need for government funding to redevelop our academic buildings.
Check out this flyover with the vision for Stage 1!
Katie is particularly keen to partner with parents of MC who live in the Footscray electorate as she advocates for the funding with the government and Education Minister, Ben Carroll. We encourage parents/carers to get involved by joining our parent campaign group, Building Our Future - Maribyrnong College. Connect with the group on Facebook here.
Just a few days later Education Minister, Ben Carroll, was on site to meet with a group of principals from around the area to discuss their approach to the errors related to the recent VCAA exams. Our Principal, Michael Keenan, hosted the round-table discussion with the minister, interim VCAA CEO, Marcia Devlin, and principals from government, catholic and independent schools in the area.
Minister Ben Carroll committed to a return visit early next year to learn more about our Masterplan and the need to update our facilities.
Maribyrnong College students head to the AFL!
We're super proud of graduating Year 12 students Lucca Grego and Jayden Nguyen who, through the national draft and rookie list process - have been selected to join AFL clubs. Lucca is heading west, taken at pick #48 by the West Coast Eagles, while Jayden will be just down the road with the Essendon Bombers. Pick #28 Tom Sims (Richmond Tigers), is also an alumnus of the College (2019-2022).
Lucca, Jayden and Tom join other Maribyrnong College alumni in the AFL including Zak Butters, Cam Raynor, Massimo D'Ambrosio, Luke Ryan, Touk Miller and Buku Kamis.
