Class Placements 2026

We are beginning our planning for 2026, and parents and caregivers will receive an EdSmart email this afternoon about class placement for 2026.
Your input will give us the necessary information to help us start our preparations and manage our enrolments carefully to ensure that classes are fair and equitable across the school. Accurate information is essential to help us make these decisions, so we kindly ask parents to inform us if their child will or will not be returning in 2026.
If your child is returning in 2026, parents must nominate four students (including surnames) whom they would like us to consider placing in the same class next year. To do this, please ensure that you:
Discuss this with your child. Some of their friends may not always be the best choice.
Only nominate students in the same year level as your child.
Include both the first name and surname of the children you nominate.
We will do our utmost to ensure that at least one of the nominated students is placed in the same class as your child. However, we cannot guarantee this, as the class placement process is complex and takes into account a wide range of factors to ensure balance and equity across all classes. Please also note that if parents withdraw their child from Magill School after class placements have been finalised, this may have a flow-on effect on the friendship placements of other students. In such cases, we may be unable to make further changes to class placements.
Don't hesitate to contact your class teacher if you would like to discuss appropriate friendship selections.
We ask that you complete this information no later than Friday 29th August 2025.
Some parents may wish to provide additional information for the school to consider when placing students in classes for 2026. This information must be provided in writing and can be emailed to the principal directly via email: j.iannunzio8@schools.sa.edu.au.
Please note that all previous requests do not carry forward to the following year. You will need to resubmit requests each year for the next school year.
Due to the volume of requests, we are unable to hold face-to-face meetings to discuss class placement information unless initiated by the school. Additionally, we do not accept requests for individual teachers. All written requests need to be submitted by the last day of Term 3.
