P&C Meeting Update – August 📢
Our August P&C meeting brought together parents, carers and community members for a valuable update from Relieving Principal Nat Hill.
Nat began with an update on bathroom facilities at the school 🚻, before delivering a comprehensive report on GIHS NAPLAN results in writing, reading and numeracy 📊. The discussion extended to how other statewide assessments, such as Check-in assessments and classroom assessment data, provide valuable insight into student learning. P&C meetings continue to be a great way for our community to connect and stay informed about our students' academic progress. 🎓
The report also covered the school's "Explicit Teaching Strategies" focus, along with numeracy initiatives currently in place to help improve outcomes for students.
Sue Larkey Workshop – $500 Contribution Approved ✅💰
The P&C approved a $500 contribution towards the Sue Larkey Workshop, to be held Wednesday 16 September, 6–8pm, at Glen Innes Public School. 🗓️
GIHS and Glen Innes Public School are jointly hosting Sue for an education session with local teachers. Sue Larkey has authored many books on autism spectrum disorder and offers practical tools to support student outcomes. Glen Innes Public School's P&C is also contributing to the visit, and as part of this Sue will run a dedicated session for parents and carers. 🧩
