Faith and Mission

This week we begin the Season of Creation, an annual time of prayer, reflection and action observed by Christians around the world from 1 September to 4 October. The theme for 2026 is 'Living Water', inspired by the vision in Ezekiel 47 where life-giving water flows from God's sanctuary, bringing healing and new life to the land. Christians are invited to reflect on the vital importance of water, our interconnectedness with creation, and our responsibility to care for the earth and one another. 

In his message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, Pope Leo XIV encouraged Catholics to honestly acknowledge the ways we have been 'unfaithful in safekeeping creation' and to embrace a deeper commitment to caring for our common home. He invited us to slow down, listen to the voice of creation and allow this season to be a time of ecological conversion and renewed responsibility. 

As we begin this season, our community will have the opportunity to put this call into action at our Community Gardening Morning on Saturday, 5 September. Through planting, weeding and caring for our garden beds, we will help protect local biodiversity and support the native Carnaby's that visit our campus. This initiative reflects our College's commitment to caring for God's creation and fostering environmental stewardship within our community.

Today, our College community gathered to celebrate a special Fathers' Day Mass with Fr Sean Fernandez. In his homily, Fr Sean reflected on the unique gifts that fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers and father figures bring to our lives through their love and support. He reminded us that God our Father is the perfect expression of love and that the care shown by those who nurture and guide us reflects something of God's faithful presence in our world.

As Fathers' Day approaches this weekend, we take the opportunity to recognise and thank the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers and father figures in our community. We are grateful for the many ways they encourage, support and inspire our young people each day. Happy Fathers' Day to all who nurture others with love and compassion.

Community Mass

Members of the College Sustainability Club will be preparing our Community Eucharist next Friday, 11 September, to coincide with the Season of Creation. 

As our community gathers to pray for the care of water and all creation, and to give thanks for the fruitfulness of the earth, all are invited! Even if the Mass is new to you, feel free to just come to the Chapel at 8:00am. All the responses are on a PowerPoint and there is no reserved seating.
