Science and STEM

In the Year 5/6 Science classroom this week...
This week, our Year 5/6 students investigated the density of liquids as part of their ongoing exploration of the particle theory. Students were very excited to discover they could layer liquids to create colourful liquid stacks. One of the highlights was watching the colours flip when the syringe was turned upside down!
Last chance to register for the 2026 Science Talent Search!
Registrations close 8th May.
Entries due 20th July.
2026 Theme: Seeds of Science – Nurturing knowledge for all The 2026 theme encourages students to see science as a living, evolving process. Just as seeds need the right conditions to grow, knowledge flourishes when it is nurtured, shared, and applied to real-world challenges. Students are invited to plant ideas, ask questions, and develop projects that demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
At OHR, students in Years 2-6 are warmly invited to enter with entry costs covered by the school. OHR students have been involved in this program for many years and many of our students have achieved great success with their entries receiving a Bursary award, a Certificate of Distinction or a Certificate of Merit.
