Buddies- Week 3
In Week 3, our students engaged in a Buddy session where they worked together to identify what it means to be caring and how we can show others we care. We also created 'buckets' to identify how we can fill one anothers buckets through acts of kindness.
See below for photos of this session.
I CAN Program
This Term to support successful Transitions to Secondary School for our Year 6's heading the the Echuca College, a small group of select students are participating in the I CAN transition support program where we walk across to the college each week and explore topics such as:
· Teamwork
· Positives / challenges - transition check in
· Personal strengths
· Coping with change
· Positive self-talk
· Situation solution
· Transition check in / reflection
· Student led session and Celebration
Snapshot from our first session
A highlight from this session was the game Find Someone Who…, which required mentees to find someone that matched the prompt given (e.g., “find someone who has the same colour eyes”). This was a great icebreaker game and a fun way to get to know each other while getting a bit of a movement break. A really important part of this session was creating our Group Agreements. Rather than being told the ‘rules’, mentees create their own list of things we can agree on as a group, to make our space fun, respectful and inclusive. This is what mentees agreed on:
Next Session Outline
In our next session, we will begin our ‘Positive Thinking’ module. Our main outcome for this module is to develop the mentees skills in reflecting positively on the future and identifying potential challenges. We will also begin our I CAN Talks.
The session will include:
Welcome, Schedule and Good News
Recap Group Agreements
I CAN Talk
Activity: Positives and Challenges
Game: Follow the Leader

The following extract has been taken from the following link: https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions
Social media age restrictions
- As of 10 December 2025, Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, Twitch, X and YouTube are required to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 from having accounts on their platforms. These services, among others, have self-assessed as being age-restricted: BigoLive, BlueSky, Lemon8, Wizz, Yubo. See the latest list.
- Under-16s are still allowed to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account.
- Most standalone gaming and messaging apps, as well as many services that support health and education, are not affected by the new law.
- There are no penalties for under-16s who access an account on an age-restricted social media platform, or for their parents or carers. This is about making the platforms take greater responsibility for the safety of children – they face penalties of up to $109.2 million if they don’t take reasonable steps to comply with the law.
Find out the facts about the social media 'ban' or delay
It’s not a ban, it’s a delay to having accounts.
This means there will be no penalties for under-16s who access an age-restricted social media platform, or for their parents or carers. However, age-restricted social media platforms may face penalties if they don’t take reasonable steps to prevent under-16s from having accounts.
Details about how the age restrictions will operate and other relevant information will be developed throughout 2025. We will provide answers to frequently asked questions on our FAQ page and throughout the eSafety website. The information will help Australians – including under-16s, parents, carers and educators – understand and prepare for the change. "

Wellbeing Support at ETRPS-
Meet our KESO Paul!
Koorie Engagement Support Officers (KESOs) are part of an area-based team of professionals who understand Aboriginal culture and history of the community.
KESOs support schools with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners to participate fully in education by providing advice and building capability within schools.
Together with their student support colleagues, KESOs may:
- guide schools about culturally-inclusive learning environments
- identify services to support student engagement and improved outcomes
- support schools to build relationships with Koorie students and families.
KESOs are not qualified mental health practitioners or allied health professionals, however, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, are able to guide schools towards the most appropriate resources to support Koorie students.
Paul is a valued member of our school community. He visits our school each week on Thursdays. Feel free to pop in and say hello, or contact him if you have any questions on 0437 557 360.
Thanks for all you do for us Paul!
