Deputy Principal's Message

Welcome back to our Stage 3 students and teachers who have just returned from their Canberra excursion. Our students were exemplary during their trip and represented Ben Venue with pride. We hope they enjoyed learning from the wide range of experiences provided and enjoyed making lifelong memories.

PAX

The PAX Good Behaviour Game (PAX GBG) is an early years intervention and prevention program that provides students with opportunities to develop their self-regulation, social and emotional skills and resilience at school. The program is implemented by teachers across all BVPS classrooms and programs to help create and strengthen peace, productivity, health and happiness at Ben Venue PS.

PAX GBG consists of proven behavioural strategies used daily by teachers with students. The 10 evidence-based and trauma informed strategies, or 'kernels', help to build self-regulation in children, strengthen peer networks, reduce impulsivity and teach prosocial decision-making in children. The ‘peaceful’ classroom environment supports learning, wellbeing, participation and confidence.

In our classrooms, teachers use the PAX Good Behaviour Game to teach behaviour expectations and to support inclusion and connection. Students at BVPS are explicitly taught these 10 evidence-based strategies or 'kernels':

Attendance matters

Regular attendance at school is essential for students to achieve quality life outcomes. Ben Venue aims to work in partnership with parents and carers to encourage and support regular attendance of our students. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and they are more able to build and maintain friendships with other children and improve their wellbeing.
