This weekend we celebrate Mother’s Day, a special time to recognise and give thanks for the mothers, grandmothers and carers who play such an important role in our lives. We acknowledge the care, guidance and support they provide each day, often in quiet and generous ways. We also remember with love those who are no longer with us, those celebrating with their families, and those who may be apart from loved ones for different reasons. As a school community, we wish all those who nurture and care for others a happy and peaceful Mother’s Day. May God bless them with love, strength and peace.

On 13 May, the Catholic Church celebrates the optional Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima. This special day honours Mary, the mother of Jesus and our Mother in Heaven. In 1917, Mary appeared to three children — Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco — near the town of Fatima in Portugal. These apparitions continued from May to October. At each visit, Mary emphasised the importance of repentance, peace and prayer, especially praying the Rosary.

That everyone might have food
Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers,
be committed to avoid wasting food,
and to ensure that everyone has access to quality food.
Amen
