FINAL STUDENT DAY FOR 2026
Wednesday 16th December, 12 noon finish - We notify parents now that we will have an early finish on our final student day this year. Please note the date has not changed, only the finishing time. This will enable staff to gather in the afternoon of that day to hold their annual 'handover' to the following year's teachers; a process which can often take up to three hours to complete. We hope this does not cause too much inconvenience to families, especially with the early notification. TheirCare will also be notified of the early finish on this day. Thank you for your understanding.
TERM TWO AND WINTER UNIFORM
Traditionally we transition to our Winter uniforms in Term Two, however we are expereincing some unseasonally warm weather at present. Please be mindful of these changes in weather and in these first few weeks of term make the appropriate decision about your child's uniform. Whilst children are not required to wear hats in terms three and four in order to play outside, it is still advisable in this warmer weather.
CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS PAGE
This year we are introducing a Child Safety page to the newsletter. The Child Safe Standards are a set of 11 requirements that organisations must follow to create a culture and environment that is safe for children. These standards aim to prevent, respond to, and report child abuse by requiring organisations to implement policies, procedures, and practices that put children’s safety and well-being first. They were developed in response to inquiries and recommendations from Royal Commissions and aim to drive cultural change within organisations that provide services or facilities for children.
Each month, we will share one of the 11 standards in the newsletter to familiarise all the St Michael's community about what each standard stands for in detail. This month, Child Safe Standard 1 is Creating a Culturally Safe Environment for Aboriginal Children. See our Child Safety Page for details.

TEETH ON WHEELS SCHOOL VISIT
We’re excited to announce that Teeth On Wheels will be visiting our School on May 27th 2026!
Teeth On Wheels is all about making dental care fun and stress-free while teaching children the importance of oral health. They specialise in working with children, offering services such as check-ups, cleans, and more—right here at the School! The team is specially trained to provide compassionate and tailored care for neurodiverse patients, ensuring a respectful and supportive experience for everyone.
If eligible under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), your child may even receive FREE dental care.
To participate, simply complete the E-form by the cut-off date May 20th 2026.

WORKS ON MOROTAI AVENUE
As many families would be aware, works on Morotai Avenue have commenced and this will be a long term process. This, naturally, will impact our drop off and pick up routines for a short while. Can I ask parents please to be mindful of this impact and plan ahead around your morning and afternoon procedures? This will require additional time in the morning to park a little further away and walk (always good to get your steps up!!) or consider car pooling perhaps.
Again, I kindly request that you do not park on the top courts before or after school, until after 4pm. This is a safety requirement for the children in our school.

As we commence planning for the 2026 year, we officially notify families of our staff professional learning days for next year and our acquittal days for Time In Lieu. We have notified TheirCare of these dates so that if there are sufficient families needing care on these days, TheirCare will make the provisions for this. Please take note of these dates in your family and professional calendars:

- Friday 31 July - Religious Education - Staff Professional Learning
- Monday 2nd November - Time In Lieu acquittal day
- Monday 23 November - Time In Lieu acquittal day

EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS
Are your children interested in after school Drama, Tennis, Chess Club, Coding Club (year 3-6), Basketball, Calisthenics or music lessons (music lessons during school hours)?

SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM
Did you know that you can access a Social Skills Program for your child while they are at school? The Social Domain is run by a qualified Speech Pathologist, Atara Lebransky, who works positively with children in developing their social skills, using games and stories. See the topics covered here on the flier. Feel free to phone The Social Domain to inquire about how your child can benefit from a program such as this and how to enrol.
PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES AT ST MICHAEL'S SCHOOL
Parents who are seeking a psychologist for their child are welcome to make contact with Advanced Psychology, who run their sessions in a confidential space onsite. Sessions can take place during the school day. If this is something you are seeking, please make contact with Linda Kollind at Advanced Psychology on 03 7002 8006. Discuss your needs and Linda is able to assist with the right program and / or assessment for your child. Please know this is a completely confidential service.
ADVANCED PSYCHOLOGY BLOG
