Kia Ora Friends - Our Warmest Greetings

Board of Trustees Elections

Huge thanks and appreciation to our awesome parent community. Twenty-one nominations for our Board is the highest number of nominations I have ever seen in my 34 years as a principal.

This says to me that we have a community that cares about our school and is keen to contribute to its continued success.

A good, caring, positive and supportive Board is a key to any school's success. Our school has been blessed with outstanding Board members over my 11 years at Western Heights.

As a parent community, you now have a crucial role to play in selecting and electing our new Board. Can I ask that you please read each candidate's statement carefully and reflectively and then make your best decision as to who to vote for.

You will receive voting information on 13 August via email. If you don't have an email address to mail to, you will receive a paper voting form. People who receive a paper voting form can vote in one of two ways.  They can scan the unique QR code on your form and vote online, or they can tick the boxes on the form and return the voting paper to our school office.  Voting papers should be returned in the supplied envelope, please.

Please vote.

The strength of our school is our diverse, caring, connected community. We want this Board election to be decided and owned by everyone, so please ensure your vote counts.

Dogs In School:

The safety and well-being of our children at all times is always our priority. Therefore, we are introducing a new policy regarding dogs on-site at Western Heights.

We are asking that dog owners not bring their dogs onto our school site. We know many families have dogs and love to bring them along. These dogs have shown themselves to be well-behaved, but if one had its tail stood on or felt threatened, the fear factor could lead to an aggressive response.

Therefore, from now on, only therapy-approved dogs are permitted on site at Western Heights.

I love dogs and I know how much a beloved pet dog means to their family. Please understand this is something we need to do to ensure our children are kept as safe as possible.

Your support and understanding in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about anything school-related, email me at macash@mac.com, and I will get back to you asap.

My very best regards to you all,

Ash Maindonald

Principal.
