Burnie Campus News

Welcome back to the Library for 2026!
I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing break. As we begin our second year in the library’s new space, I’ve made a few small adjustments to help the area work even better for students and staff. I’m sure it won’t take long for everyone to rediscover where their favourite books live!
Library Lessons
At Leighland, all primary classes have a designated weekly library lesson:
Tuesday: Prep, 3/4C, 5/6L
Wednesday: 3/4L, 5/6C, 1/2L, 1/2C, 1/2S
Friday: Kinder L and Kinder C
Please note that these days may change from time to time due to other school events.
All students are required to borrow one book during each library lesson. We ask that students bring a waterproof library bag to help keep these precious treasures safe between school and home. Of course, we understand that accidents happen, spills occur, puppies nibble, books go missing, or sometimes even make a surprise trip to the State Library! If this happens, we simply ask that families stay in contact with us.

Library Opening Times
Wednesday mornings (before school): Families, parents, and grandparents are warmly invited to pop in and share a story together.
Tuesday recess: The library is open for students to read, colour in, or chat about books with friends.
Wednesday recess: The library is open for silent reading.
I’m really looking forward to sharing some wonderful stories and learning experiences with all our fabulous students this year.
