Welcome back to 2026 at Leighland Christian School! It has been wonderful to see current families returning and new ones making this their school of choice.

We have some special things happening on the Burnie Campus and one of these includes a work placement student who started this week in the Kinder classroom with Mrs Shepherd. This person is currently in Year 12, preparing to complete her final year of schooling, but she will spend part of that time learning from the classroom teacher and teacher aide in how to prepare Kinders for their first year of formal schooling in a way that sets them up for success in the coming years.

It brings us such joy when we see the ‘two campuses, one school’ model in action in a way that provides pathways for learning in a practical and hands-on way, bringing to life our school vision statement of being: “A hope filled Christian community pioneering personalised real-world education”.

This weekend, we celebrate 50 YEARS of Leighland Christian School, built on the vision of our founders and their faithful dedication to starting a school that was Christian to the core and partnered with parents in the education of their children. This model now spans five decades and the School Board, our governing body, has worked tirelessly to ensure that we stay true to the course of providing quality, Christian education that works together with those in our school community to support students for the best possible outcomes.

Leighland Christian School is part of a wider network of schools who come under the banner of Christian Education National (CEN Home - Christian Education National). Their vision and mission include the following:

Our member associations and schools are all closely connected and defined by strong partnerships between home, church and school to promote a transforming and biblically authentic approach to education that:

  1. celebrates the lordship of Christ over all of life;

  2. positions the gospel rather than cultural forces as the primary shaper of how we think and live;

  3. affirms the role of parents as having responsibility to ensure their children are educated within this understanding.

As an organisation, they are turning 60 this year and we will be involved in celebrating this milestone with them, because visions that last this long are well worth celebrating!

Whether we are just starting our schooling journey in Kinder, or looking to finish it in Year 12, our Christian schools create an environment where students can receive quality Christian education that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum, delivered in an environment where they can grow and flourish.

As we step into our celebrations this weekend, we would love to see you from 10.00am till 2.00pm on Saturday at the Open Classrooms with a free BBQ lunch provided, or at the Thanksgiving Service on the Ulverstone Campus on Sunday, beginning at 10.00am in the multi-purpose hall.

May God bless these events, our milestone year and all those working together to ensure we remain true to the vision, mission and core values of Leighland Christian School.
