Litany of Remembrance

God of Compassion

In the rising of the sun and in its going down.

We remember them

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter.

We remember them

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of the summer.

We remember them

In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn.

We remember them

In the beginning of the year and when it ends.

We remember them

When we are lost and sick at heart.

We remember them

When we have joys we yearn to share.

We remember them

So long as we live, they too shall live.

We will remember them

Amen

November is the month of remembrance which we began with the All Saints / All Souls liturgy. We are reminded to pray for those who have passed away, and in the Monivae Chapel a candle is lit each day, and a Book of Remembrance is available to be written in, and prayers for loved ones offered.

On Monday 11th of November, the entire school gathered in the courtyard to commemorate Remembrance Day and the end of the WW1. The sign of respect offered by our students through the minutes silence was quite moving.

Our Year 8 cohort visited HIRL on Tuesday for their Year 8 Reflection Day. – The theme for the day was the message taken from Ezekiel36: 26 - I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

The students spent the day looking at ways to ensure that they genuinely display a caring heart to those they meet along their journey.

We currently have the pleasure of having a visiting MSC Novice,  Hoa Quoc Tran, joining us at Monivae until the end of term. He is training to be an MSC priest, and has shown a keen interest in education. Hoa joined the Year 8s on Reflection day, and has been visiting classes this week, getting a feel for how the Monivae community works. Welcome Hoa.

Our St Vincent de Paul winter appeal has had a soft launch. Each year we ask for donations of Christmas presents, unwrapped (to make distribution more effective), and these are to placed under the Christmas tree in the library. We also have a raffle – First prize is a tin of 1000 Chupa Chups (lolly pops), and 2nd prize some chocolate. These tickets are for sale at the school. All funds raised will be donated to the Hamilton branch of St Vincent de Paul to help those in need have a better Christmas.
