As I write this on a very wet Thursday, just before the long weekend, I want to thank our community for the flexibility and understanding shown over the past week of persistent rain. While the weather has certainly presented some challenges, it has also been wonderful to see students continuing to demonstrate resilience and enthusiasm in their learning.

One immediate impact of the wet conditions has been on our synthetic pitch. Due to the ongoing rain, the surface has become extremely slippery and has been closed to ensure the safety of all students. We appreciate that this may be disappointing, particularly during break times and PE sessions, but student safety remains our highest priority. We are actively working with contractors to have the pitch cleaned and restored, and we will reopen it as soon as it is safe to do so.

There is exciting progress to report regarding access to Napier Street. We are now in the final stages, with finishing touches currently taking place. This long-anticipated improvement will significantly enhance our facilities for our school community. We are aiming to have classes running out of Napier Street at the beginning of Term 3, and we look forward to sharing this milestone with our community.

Over the past few weeks, our staff have been engaged in significant assessment work to support student learning and future planning. Due to current AEU industrial action related to the EBA, there will be no written comments included in student reports this semester in  victorian government schools. We acknowledge that this is different from usual practice and appreciate your understanding. Teachers remain committed to supporting each student’s progress and are available to discuss learning as needed.

Looking ahead, we have commenced our 2027 enrolment process. School tours are being conducted every Wednesday and are a wonderful opportunity for prospective families to experience our school in action. We kindly ask that you direct any interested parents to our website where they can register for a tour. Additionally, if you have younger siblings who are ready to start school in 2027, we encourage you to collect an enrolment form from the front office as soon as possible.

In line with the Department of Education Victoria’s statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2027 school year, please note the following key dates:

● From Monday, 20 April 2026: Enrolment applications are now open.

● By Friday, 31 July 2026: Enrolment applications must be submitted.

● 3–14 August 2026: Families will be notified of the outcome of their application.

● By Friday, 28 August 2026: Families who receive an enrolment offer should respond to the school.

● Wednesday, 28 January 2027: First day of school for Foundation (Prep) students.

To enrol your child, your child must turn 5 years old by 30 April 2027. Applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed as received, in accordance with the Department’s Placement Policy.
