Weekly Values Focus - Respect

Week 6: Footscray West students respect the environment
At our school, we show respect by caring for our surroundings. Looking after the environment means taking responsibility for the spaces we share — our classrooms, playgrounds, gardens, and school buildings. When we keep our school clean and tidy, we create a place that everyone can enjoy and feel proud of.
Every day we have the chance to care for our environment. We use school materials, water, and electricity carefully so that we don’t waste them. We put rubbish in the right bins and remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever we can. We turn off the lights and air conditioners when we leave rooms. We stay off the garden beds so that our plants can grow and make our environment beautiful. After using resources, we clean up and pack up to leave the space ready for the next person. These small actions show that we respect our school and the people who share it with us.
This week, look for ways you can care for the environment around you. Can you turn off the lights when you leave the room? Can you tidy up after lunch or recycle the paper in your classroom? Every little effort adds up — and together, we can make our school a cleaner, greener place for everyone.
