World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
On 1 September, Catholics around the world celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. This special day reminds us that our beautiful world is a precious gift from God and that we all share the responsibility of caring for it.
The day also marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, which continues until 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi—the patron saint of animals and the environment.
At St Joseph’s, our students are encouraged to recognise God’s presence in the beauty of creation and to consider the small but meaningful actions they can take to protect our common home. Turning off lights, saving water, reducing waste, recycling, caring for animals and showing respect for our local beaches and bushland are all ways we can make a difference.
As a school community, let us take time to appreciate the wonderful world around us and pray:
Loving God,
thank you for the gift of creation.
Help us to care for our Earth,
protect all living things and make choices that will preserve our common home for future generations.
Amen.
