Dear Families,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable day yesterday celebrating the fathers and father figures in their lives.

Heavenly Father,

thank you for the gift of  dads

and for all the sacrifices they make for our family. Bless them with health, strength, wisdom, and deep joy today and always.

Fill their hearts with your peace.

Amen.

Thank you to Giulia and Louise for organising the Father's Day Stall and to their helpers Angie, Amie and Carmela. Thank you to Sarah Williams, Prue, Sylwia and staff for cooking the eggs and bacon rolls for dads and children on Friday morning. It was a most enjoyable morning.

Learning Conferences

Learning Conferences are important meetings not only in our reporting process but also in developing partnerships with families. Staff are looking forward to sharing your child's growth and progress with you. We recommend students attend the conferences also and are a part of the conversation but ultimately the decision is yours as parents. School will close at the regular 3:20pm time tomorrow.

Snow Camp

Thirty one students, five staff and three parents hit Mount Buller and had an amazing four days. We were fortunate with the weather and snow conditions. The students all made incredible progress through perseverance and determination. We were so proud of them. Thank you to Jacqui, Phil, Sarah and Gypsy for accompanying the students and to Sophie Walsh, Warren Smith and Matt O'Brien for their assistance during the camp. I have some lost property (many sets of gloves, socks and goggles) in my office. Please pop in if you are missing any items.

MACSSIS Survey

Families would have received an email today with a link to the Melbourne Archdiocese catholic Schools Improvement Survey.  It is an opportunity for families to provide feedback on our school with the aim to improve the school experience for all. The survey is open for the next two weeks. Thank you in anticipation.

Rye Sands Mosaic Project

The Year Four students were treated like celebrities at Rye Sands Aged Care Facility last Thursday at the Opening of the Wellness Garden. They received gifts and enjoyed afternoon tea with the residents. Thank you Jane Byrne for leading this project.

Chickens

We welcomed two new chickens over the weekend and they have settled in well after some initial "trouble in the hen house!" If you would like to look after the chickens in the next school holidays and enjoy the fresh eggs, please email me with some possible dates on moshannassy@sjsorrento.catholic.edu.au

Thank you to Diaco’s Nursery for their assistance in delivering our fruit trees for our school orchard.

Footy Colours Day

Students are invited to wear their team colours on the last Friday of this term. If you have any spare soccer/football boots, our FIRE Carrier Student Leaders will be collecting them to send to Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.

National Child Protection Week

This week is Child Protection Week. The 2026 theme is "Every Conversation Matters, Shifting Conversation to Action". The campaign focuses on turning dialogue into practical steps to keep children and young people safe, heard, and supported across Australia. Students will be participating in a variety of activities to support this.
