Foundation
In what was an extremely busy last week of term, we thought it might be nice for the Foundation kids to learn how to swim!! And what a great time they had, all of them engaging fully in the swimming program. It was great to see their confidence grow throughout the week and learn new skills in the aquatic space; breathing, kicking, floating and ever stroke making. I think if the weather is nice in Term 4 we should head back there for more fun! To all parents, thanks for your continued support this term. We have seen your children grow in leaps and bounds as all the foundational work in reading and writing and numbers starts to really take hold. Have a wonderful holiday and we will see you all in a fortnight's time.

Year 1
Hi Families,
As we come to the end of the term, I wanted to share a little of what we have been learning in Maths. We have been learning about sharing equally, and the children have really enjoyed using hands-on activities and materials to help them develop a deeper understanding of how we can share objects fairly and equally. It has been wonderful to see their thinking develop as they work together and explain their strategies.
It has also been a huge week with swimming! I would like to say a very big thank you to all of our wonderful parent helpers who so generously dedicated their time to support us. Your flexibility, willingness to go with the flow and excellent organisation skills have been very much appreciated. We couldn't have done it without you! To our wonderful Year 1 children, you did such a fantastic job! It has been so wonderful to see your confidence grow both around the water and in the water. You should all be very proud of yourselves. What an awesome effort!
I wish all of our families a safe, happy and restful break. I hope you enjoy some well-deserved time together, and I look forward to seeing everyone back next term! 💛

Year 2
Hello Families,
We’re finally in our last school week for Term 3! We can’t believe how ‘’time flies’’. This past term we had a lot to learn and celebrate. We went on an excursion and enjoyed more birthday celebrations. Our Inquiry unit was a wild success that grew by the week! The class had so much fun watching seedlings grow into spectacular garden bed full of grown fruit plants, vegetables and more permanent Australiana plants. Alongside we learned that looking after our plants is all part of God’s calling to protect Creation. Thank you to families for your support with our fundraising and school events (movie night, book week, stalls and the swimming program) We are so proud of the class swimming with so much talent to show, we have one more lesson after the break. We wish you all a wonderful fun filled break and look forward to hearing about your family's adventurous holiday. Remember that during the break ''Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning'' Ms.Liz, and LSO team.
Year 3/4 AL
Hi families,
What another very busy term it has been in 3/4 AL! To finish off a wonderful term of learning the students have enjoyed the swimming program at Northcote Aqautic and Recreation Centre. The lessons have built their confidence, swimming skills and understanding of water safety. It has been wonderful to see them encouraging one another and celebrating each others progress.
As part of our Religious education lessons the students were given the opportunity to enter the Caritas Australia Catholic Earthcare School Art Competition with the theme of 'Living Water'. This connected beautifully with our Religion topic of Creation, where we have been exploring the beauty of God's creation and our responsibility to care for our common home. It also links closely with our Inquiry unit on life cycles, where the students have explored the growth, change and interconnectedness of living things. The competition is Australia wide and winners will be annonced at the end of October.
We have also been learning about the importance of forgiveness and Reconcilaition as part of our Religious Education lessons. We have some students making their Reconciliation on Thursday the 8th of October at 6pm and we ask that you keep them in your prayers as they take part in this special Sacrament.
There truly has been so much learning taking place this term. We are so proud of all of 3/4 AL's hard work, creativity and enthusiasmin in all areas of thier learning. We hope you and your families have a wonderful and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4!
Year 3/4T
Hi Families,
Our Year 3/4 students have been getting creative with flexible thinking! 🚗🌈 Through our Mind Headquarters learning, we explored how we can ‘change direction’ when things don’t go to plan. Students designed their own colourful steering wheels, filling them with strategies to help them pause, feel calm and choose what to do next. From deep breaths and drawing to moving our bodies or talking to someone we trust, everyone had ideas to share!
Mind Headquarters is building on our RRRR (Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships) learning about managing emotions, solving problems and seeking help. These skills support students to try a different approach when things feel tricky, consider someone else’s perspective in a friendship and feel more confident navigating everyday challenges. Sometimes a pause and a new direction can make a big difference! 💛
With the final week of term approaching, our Inquiry projects are coming together! 🐛🦋 Students have been creating slide presentations to explain their chosen insect’s life cycle, the changes it undergoes through metamorphosis and how our actions can help or harm it at different stages. They have also been bringing their research to life through models made from natural and classroom materials. Take a look at the photos below to see their learning and creativity in action!
Year 5/6J
Hi families,
Over the last few weeks, 5/6J have been learning about Creation, and explored the texts that detail how our world began. We have had a variety of lesson focuses, such as the Big Bang Theory, the Bible's story in Genesis, and some Aboriginal Dreaming stories. These have allowed students to think critically about the worlds beginning, asking questions and sharing their ideas with others. It has also allowed us to become more grounded, and appreciate all that our world has given us, and everything that is around us!
Here are some snapshots of some of the great learning that has been happening during our making of posters for each day of Creation in Christian faith!
Year 5/6M
Our class earned thirty tokens as part of the Wellbeing Reward Program so last Friday the 11th of September we had lunch at the Preston Market. It was a beautiful walk down to the market from school, the sun was shining down on us. When we arrived, many of us went to buy a dim sum or pizza. It was so delicious! Some students played on the old pianos that they had there. Everyone then went their separate ways. Some of us went to the Asian grocery to get drinks. Everyone had such a fantastic time there, that we hope we can go again when we get another thirty tokens! By Amy & Layla
Last Friday, we were at Preston Market to have a yummy lunch! We all had such an amazing time. We all had $20 to spend on lunch and maybe some snacks. Everything was so delicious! With this visit it made us realise that lunch out can be quite expensive to buy, so that we should be grateful we can buy our lunch. There were a lot of people around so we needed to stay close together at all times. Everything went so well. We hope that we can all go again!! By Audrey & Martin
At the Preston Market there was so much yummy food to eat! And there was so much to explore around. You could buy ice-cream, flowers, food etc. Our favourite thing to do was to buy a croissant and hot chocolate, they were so yummy! We can’t wait to go again.

We had an excellent time at the Preston Market last Friday. We went round to buy our lunch with our $20. I bought two slices of BBQ Meat Lovers pizza and a can of Coca Cola Zero. By Shamus
The Preston Market was so fantastic! We just want to do it all again! On this Friday, we started our walk and it took about 3 km to get there. We each had $20 to spend there to buy lunch and snacks. After we ate, we saw a Piano next to our table! We had so much fun playing some songs and showing each other how to play. The walk back to school was a bit sad, but we knew we would do it again!!?
