Grade 2 Term Highlights

What a wonderful and busy term it has been in Grade 2! We have been incredibly proud of the growth, enthusiasm and confidence our students have demonstrated across all areas of their learning. From exciting special events to everyday classroom achievements, it has been a term filled with learning, challenge, creativity and plenty of fun.

One of the highlights of our term was our Grade 2 Talent Show. It was wonderful to see our students take the lead in creating and presenting such a special event. They demonstrated incredible confidence, courage and bravery as they shared their talents and interests with an audience. It was a fantastic celebration of the many talents within Grade 2 and a wonderful example of student voice and leadership in action.

Science Week was another exciting highlight! Students embraced opportunities to ask questions, investigate, predict, explore and discover how the world around them works. Our Science Day celebration was an amazing way to finish the week, with students experiencing a multiple of wonderful science projects and experiments. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the day a memorable one!

Our students also thoroughly enjoyed two wonderful weeks of swimming lessons. Beyond developing their swimming skills and water safety knowledge, the program provided valuable opportunities for students to develop resilience, independence and organisation. Our Grade 2 students demonstrated fantastic growth throughout the program.

We have also reached a special time in Grade 2 as we say farewell to Ashlee Moore and Jayne Crigan as they begin their maternity leave. Jayne finished with us last week, and this week marks Ashlee’s final week. We are so grateful for the care, enthusiasm and joy they have brought to our students and the Grade 2 teaching team. They will be very much missed, and we wish them both all the very best as they embark on this exciting new chapter!

We are delighted to welcome Jaimee Pell and Ben Moore to the Grade 2 teaching team. Jaimee and Ben bring experience, enthusiasm and energy, and we are very excited to have them join us. We know they will be fantastic additions to our team and look forward to seeing the wonderful relationships and learning experiences they create with our students.

During Planning Day, our Student Voice representatives worked alongside teachers to share their ideas and suggestions for next term. It was wonderful to see students actively contributing to the planning process and helping shape the exciting learning experiences and activities ahead. The Grade 2 leaders shared that they enjoyed a wide range of learning experiences in Term 3, particularly art and creating, sport, persuasive writing and multiplication. The Talent Show was also a highlight, giving students the opportunity to build confidence, perform in front of an audience and celebrate the many talents across the level.

Looking ahead to Year 2, students would like to learn more about animals and wildlife, dinosaurs and prehistoric times, and how people lived in the past. They were especially interested in exploring the Ice Age and other periods of history. Students also expressed a desire to continue with engaging and hands-on learning experiences in Maths.

As we look towards Term 4, we are filled with optimism and excitement. There is still so much wonderful learning, discovery and fun ahead! We look forward to continuing to challenge our students, celebrate their growth and create special memories together as we make the most of our final term in Grade 2. We cannot wait to see what our students will achieve!
