Sport at Mullauna

Mullum Division Athletics – Thursday 11th September

Over 70 Mullauna College students across all year levels headed to Ringwood Athletics track on a cloudy morning. But unlike the morning weather, the Mullauna College athletes were bright and full of energy, a state that would continue throughout the day and even the weather joined in as sunshine burst through late morning and early afternoon. Despite missing many qualifiers from House Athletics, members of the Mullauna team filled gaps in unfamiliar events and strived to excel in all events they participated in. As a result, it was the most successful division competition in well over a decade with Mullauna placing on the podium!

Congratulations to all students who participated and to all Mullauna community members who have supported our students to pursue opportunities to compete in physical activity.

Special mention to Isabelle Huppatz and Teiva Levy who were awarded age group champions and congratulations to all the winners who will be selected to join these girls at the Eastern Metropolitan Region championships on Oct 13th in week 2 of term 4 (see below).

A final special mention to the students who had the courage to compete in events despite knowing that they may finish last. It is a courageous person who volunteers to perform in front of others in events or activities that are not their specialty. To have the resilience to volunteer in multiple events and strive your hardest to get that one, or two, places higher than last place, deserves admiration and acknowledgement. We had many on our team, and it was through their willingness that we earned the points that got us on the podium as a team. I believe I speak on behalf of the Mullauna community when I say to those participants, we are as proud of you as we are of our age group champions, our event winners and our event place getters.
